Ray's guitar broke. No, we won't play Rawhide, won't play anything.
We'll play the theme from the Dinah Shore show.
Who wants to be Dinah Shore? Whose alter-ego is Dinah Shore?
Oh, his fists didn't go up so quickly this time. Yawn...yawn..yawn.
Put those headphones on, it's be-bop time.
I was poked and prodded to update tonight so here we go kiddos.
Had plans this weekend that fell apart last night, but I will survive. Just wish that when someone makes plans they let you know more than the day before they intend on breaking them. Annoyed? Little at first, but its not my problem. Its not like we were just going to meet up for dinner or just to hang.
Someone asked me about my roommate last weekend and how he was doing. Fine I guess. Maybe it is just time to move on. Have never had a roommate for three years before and sometimes I think we annoy each other. The month of May will be good.
Go out for Mexican or make it at home? I will probably end up making it since there are a few of you listening to GUNK Radio tonight. Thank you for the support in this endeavor by the way.
Got a few new cds I would like to share with you guys the other day:
1. Dag Nasty/85-86- It is some of the best music out of Washington DC. If you havent you should.
2. Shite n Onions/Volume 1- Compilation of 22 tracks from 15 up and coming Celtic punk bands. Including The Mahones, Greenland Whalefishers, The Skels, Siobahn, Nogoodnix, Big Black Cadillac, Neck, The Electrics, Blood or Whiskey, Bates Motel, The Tossers, The Devils Advocates, The Spunk Lads, The Steam Pig and Croppies. After listening to the Dropkick Murphys and other assorted bands of this genre including Flogging Molley, Joe Strummer and the Pouges got me really interested.
3. Blondi/Blondie- The song In The Flesh is a great and not played enough. Before there was Heart of Glass and Maria there was Blondies first. Highly recommended if you want to listen to music that inspired many.
4. The Clash/ London Calling- Just a re-buy since my original was lost/stolen a long time ago.
5. Sex Pistols/Never Mind the Bullocks- Another re-buy. Someone liked it better than I did.
6. Germs/We Must Bleed- One that I have wanted for a long time and found it in Italy on Ebay! Pat Smear has a history not to mention Darby Crash.
7. The Real McKenzies/ 10,000 Shots- More Celtic punk that is just fun to listen too.
8. Sid Vicious/Too Fast To Live- An import from Germany with some different and CLEAR versions of some of Sids work. If you cant get into My Way, Something Else and Cmon Everybody you got issueswell that is what I think anyways.
Also got a DVD from Hellcat Records by Tim Armstrong. It shows live performances from all over the world from Rancid, Dropkick Murphys, F-Minus, Horrorpops, Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros, Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards, Nekromantix, The Nerve Agents, Roger Miret and the Disasters, The Slackers, Tiger Army, Transplants and U.S. Bombs. It was shot before and after the death of the late, great Joe Strummer and includes some of his last interviews and performances. Not to mention a few minutes of a street party that was held for him while close friends painted a great mural of him. Some acoustic performances and back stage stuff too. If you like one of these bands you need to have this because you will discover at least one other band. Have watched it twice so far!!
That is my newest.
Try to have a great weekend and tune into GUNK if you can. Also if you guys want to do something for St Patricks Day, let me know. I will either go to the Irish place in Frederick or see the Del McCoury Band at the Recher Theatre in Towson. Not sure so help me swerve to the left or the right.
