Portland trip!
So I took a quick trip down to Portland to go visit my old friend Leslie, who now lives in the mid west. Her parents live there and she goes every so often to visit them and when she does, I swing down and hang out for a day, or rather that was the plan.
Before heading into my bartending shift, I meet up with my friend Dougie to do our weekly sandwhich mondays. This was delicious:
I get off work at Prost around 7, and ride down. I've never gone that long of a distance on my motorcycle in one stint before, so I was a tad bit nervous. However, it was an easy ride. Aside from my hands getting all weirdly numb/crampy from the constant vibrations, along with my feet, and the end of the ride being a bit chilly it was great. It was nice getting the chance to practice more high-speed riding, it's not often I'm going 80-95 consistently. I also went faster than I have before, around 108. I don't really feel the need to do that again at night, ever.
One last thing..I hit the 20,000 mile mark on my bike as I pulled off in Olympia to throw a sweater on.
Once I get down there, I need to get in contact with half a dozen people finding out what I'm doing, and where I'm staying. I do this at Prost (ha! There's one in Portland too!) with a few beers. I get a hold of my buddy Erik who just moved down 8 days prior from Seattle, They're at Dantes doing live karaoke night. I head down there, have a beer, then we go back to where he's staying and drink the majority of a rack and shoot the shit til the wee hours.
Next day, Meet up with my friends Lauren and Jasper, who used to live and work with me on Whidbey.
Breakfast where Lauren works with Jasper, coffee across the street where I saw the lead singer of the mean jeansthen drinks at Clyde Commons and a few snacks.
Great spot. Wish I had spent more time there. Regardless was still there for many hours. One of the cooks working there had dinner at Lark recently, and got to say hi to her. Always nice coming into other peoples place.
Lauren and I eventually went to Shanghai Tunnels for a quick drink, saw Ken Wisconsin of dirtnap headed across burnside bridge to le pigeon, but they were packed so we ended up on her suggestion going to farm. Not my favorite restaurant in Portland, but it was alright.
Headed back to Laurens place, Jasper get off work, had a drink at a bar on the corner sitting outside in the nice night, then sleep for the long ride back in the morning.
Hit up a great place for breakfast by myself for coffee and food, forgot the name though. It was right by clyde commons. Tattoo apt got cancelled..damn, could have slept an extra 2 hours. Back home. I never got a hold of Leslie, not sure what happened, I still had a lot of fun, but it would have been nice to see her too. Oh well. Next time I suppose.
I love you Portland, I already miss you, but it's good to be home Seattle, even if I was only gone a day.

So does live karaoke mean you play with a band backing you, or that it's just karaoke?
Portland is fun, even when you can't meet up with folks.
