So before I even get into the tattoo thing lemme tell ya how the weekend started. I was sitting at home sat. morning on my comp when all of a sudden I heard a loud ass explosion which turned out to be a lighting strike about a mile from my house. A couple minutes later 2 firetrucks came past so I guess some serious shit happened. Well, as it turns out, it shorted out my modem. Today I went to best buy to talk to the tech guy and he said it'd be cheaper just to get a pc card modem for my notebook instead of fixing the internal one, so 80 bucks later here I am Now onto the fun tattoo business. So I go down to meet Mercie at her place at 11 to head down to the shop in clinton. Well I get there and of course in typical mercie fashion she ended up getting way too stoned and not coming home. I tried callign several times, but she didnt recognize the number so I was ready to just go to Read St. tattoos because I was bound and determined to get a tattoo that day. Finally she called and gave me directions and I was on my way down there. I got there about 1:30, and Mattasfuck got there about 3:30, but had some other appointments so Mercie, her bf James, this dude Justin, Prophetnoise, and I sat around all day watching futurama, Leprachaun Back to da hood, and Cannibal: The Musical. Finally around 9 it was the time of reckoning. It wasn't until I saw him getting the needles out and getting the gun ready that I realized what I was in for So I decided to get the chest tatt done first because they said it would hurt much more than the arm and that I should just get it out of the way. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but there were some definite times that I was biting my lip and holding my breath! The arm one took hardly any time at all, and I am so happy with how they both came out. Matt did an awesome job on a very unconventional style of drawing for a tattoo. So here is the first one. Its a bridcage that Kurt Vonnegut drew on the cover of timequake, though the explanation of it was in the book breakfast of champions. In short, the cage held Kilgore Trouts bird, Trout had to leave town so he said he would grant the brid 3 wishes. the first wish was opening the cage door, then the bird flew out over to the window and we leaning against it. The second wish was to open the window, but when trout opened it the bird got scared and went back into the cage. Trout then closed the door and said thats the best use of three wishes I've ever seen... you still gave yourself something worth wishing for... to get out of the cage.
The second one is another Vonnegut drawing this one more recent. The text on the tombstone is from a recent article he wrote against the war and Bush. Its very short and I suggest you read it here because it says more in a few paragraphs than a lot of people say in long winded tirades
I love you, Madame Librarian
So thats them... they're about the emoist wussiest tattoos ever, but I love them and am happy I followed through with it after saying I was going to do it for the longest time. Now that I've had a taste of it, my next one is going to be my backpiece. I just have to decide... move downtown.. or get the backpiece???? Such decisions!
So sunday was spent sleeping most of the day and then heading down to the Talking Head to see my friend dave's band Spism. Dvae moved out to Chicago 2 years ago and I haven't seen him since so it was great catching up. He played drums in the band we had going in college. He also played percussion in a bunch of my composition recitals for school. The group does live drum and bass music and they fucking rule. He is such a bad ass drummer... check em out here.
Thats it for now y'all. Tomorrow is Hardcore karaoke at Frasier's with mercie, jame and matt so that'll be a fucking blast.

Fucking Mercie. Freaking pothead. And tattoo artists have such attitide. They made you wait almost eight hours? Typical. I love/hate tattoo artists.
