Well, I am moving tomorrow. Not far, 2 and a half blocks , give or take a little. I was looking at places in the Plateau, NDG (didn't really want to move back to NDG), Mile End, and then I found a cool place here in the pointe. 3 very laid back but seemingly quite responsible roomies, a non smoking , more or less vegetarian house..No dogs (woo hoo).
The place in the plateau was cool, and had a real garden out back which was exciting, but it was significantly more expensive (would have really strained my already precarious finances) and they only called me to say I was welcome to move in after I said yes to the place around here. Oh well. It also seemed a bit claustrophobic, there were I think 5 people living in a 7.5 or something and it was just very long and narrow and didn't have muchi in the way of 'public space'. It also had one of those things you seem to find often in old plateau and mile end apartments where the toilet and shower/tub are in different rooms. Why oh why did any architect or builder ever think that was a good idea? What happens when you're in the tub and all of a sudden you have to take a dump, like *now* and the toilet is all the way down the hall??
Anyways..
The place in Mile end (it was practically in outremont) was nice, the roomies there seemed a tad too anal retentive, the place was very nice but high up on the 3rd floor which i didn't like so much. There was apparently a roof for sitting and sunbathing on which might have been cool but I didn't feel like climbing the ladder up in the dark when I checked the place out. Didn't pass the 'audition' for that one, I got passed over in favour of some "cute dancer girl". Oh well, can't beat that I guess.
The one in NDG , the place was pretty cool, there are 3 people living there (2 of whom are supposed to be moving out eventually-probably-some-time-soon-when-I-ever-get-around-to-finding-a-new-place-to-live). The remaining roomie seemed very fun and cool, but I didn't want to become homeless waiting for some guy to get off his duff and move already. who knows, maybe I'll be looking for a place again (though not too soon, hopefully, and it'll work out). It was a cool little place, right around the corner from a metro station which is really awesome..Though I think it might get a bit noisy and dusty being right next to a big construction site and also a pretty busy street.
All in all, I'm happy with my new place, of course, I guess only time will tell how it turns out. Once I get my stuff moved in and an internet connection set up, well, I will be a happy camper

I was on the Point last night, actually, at the Canadian Legion (yes, it was a lodge thing). Lots of fun... good food, good beer, good company. Oh, and darts!
