Today marks the one year anniversary...
1.) where did you go?
lucedale, MS
2.) what did you bring?
couple changes of clothes, toiletries, and NOT my car....
3.) how long were you there??
one week, no electricity, no gas, no water, no contact with the outside world
4.) did you go somewhere else and where?
sturgis, ms, one week, then through tennessee, arkansas, straight across to oklahoma.
5.) how long did you stay there?
week in sturgis, ms, 4 hours back to lucedale to retrieve our car with 120 gallons of gas in back, 4 hours back to sturgis, another two days there, then 16 hours to oklahoma, couple of weeks in elk city, ok, then 6 months in oklahoma city, ok
6.) did you lose anyone close to you in the storm?
no
7.) were you able to see your family right away?
no
8.) what was your first thoughts when viewing your home after the storm?
Oh my god, you can see metairie manor from zenith street, all the trees are gone...
9.) what did you see in the debris that made you most upset?
dead trees, fallen fences, everything we had worked so hard to have beautiful and maintained, (the property i worked/lived at)
10.) has this storm made you a stronger or weaker person?
its made me a more appreciative person
11.) what will you be doing on the 1 year anniversary of the storm?
nothing special. moving on.
12.) has this storm changed your thoughts on evacuating?
not really. i've always been ready to go. only this time, i know i'll come back. i realized this is home.
13.) do you believe that the government failed for the storm?
heh. lets not go there. i will say the government wasnt alone in "failing" for the storm.
