Hey all,
I know it has been a few weeks, but my move prevented me from getting online. The people that previously lived in my apartment for got to disconnect their cable, so Time Warner would not allow me to place an order for mine. On one hand I had free cable TV for a couple of weeks, but I couldn't place an order for Road Runner until they disconnected. Plus we get our phone service via Vonage, so I was without phone for a couple of weeks too. But I am back now, YAY!!!
Our apartment is coming together slowly. it is finally starting to look like a home. Kelli and I have been working our buns off trying to get it to look nice. I think we are doing a good job. Plus I love living with her! I won't bore you with the details. We are walking distance to everything here, except work, lol. I've added another 15 to 20 minutes to my commute. Maybe I will take some pictures and share with you all.
It's that time of year again, I have decided to re-up for another year on here.
Well, I know I have been slacking for the last couple of weeks with my poems, so I will try to post some good ones this week. Hope you like.
greeting the morning
the little frog sits on the round flat lily leaf, gently undulating
watching the water rings expand and pan out .....
sunrise glistens tween the hills, and suffuses the rising mist
the intermittent song of the small bird sings out
water laps the lake surface ever so gently
the peace of the waking morning introducing the day
while the little frog sits gloating in the sun
mesmerized with warmth
the light twinkles across the gently flowing water
there is an increasing invitation to join in this day
but, in beginning in stripping yourself of doing, and
in the rotund laughing Buddhas style just be
with stillness, sit in the moment
and let the day take shape around you
let the birth of the day caress your senses
like the frog, let the sun honor your body
let the warmth spread throughout your being, until it permeates your mind
feel your soul breathe in this energy of peace
let the content and peaceful smile crease your relaxed face
watch the shadows slowly move across the land
and the waft of the breeze entice the leaves
feel your expansion, as you experience holding each outer form and happening as part of yourself,
knowing too, each form holds you within itself
the macrocosm and the microcosm
and then that little frog opens his eyes and sees you, and
in that moment, his world has changed
and the day moves forward
but, the mornings blessing never forgotten .
A-Ha
Sky - blue
I remember you
And warm, abundant sunshine
Grass - green
You havent been seen
In such a very long time
The scent in the air
More soothing than any
Aromatherapy
The birds singing
More melodious and varied
Than any symphony
What is this feeling
That has come upon me?
It seems familiar, and then
I smile, and whistle
In reply to a robin
"Yes, it seems I am happy again!"
Meditation on Peace
Ive never felt peace like this before
And I havent felt it since.
As the moon surrenders to the sun,
I smell morning chill on my shoulders
I play with dewdrops
sliding between my toes
And sit posed.
Calm, collected.
Senses awakening.
Ive never felt peace like this
And I havent felt it since.
Hardship, plain and pure
No tourist romance
No native squalor traipsing
Bare body meets earth
In her natural beauty
Embracing light and dark
Sharing gratitude over sustenance warmed
Work against the silver moon rising.
Every dawn I watch the sun rise in the East
Every dusk it sets in the West
And I am once more assured
That days will abound
Earth will spin round
And peace will prosper and soar.
Because out here
There is peace
As absurd as it may sound
In a land torn with tribal war
And corruption galore
Here I sit on this dirt hillside
Overlooking the plantain forest
And the trails, bearing water-hauling women
And girls
Smoke wafts through canopied forest
Mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters
Preparing the midday meal.
Off in the distance,
Footsteps of men approaching
Fathers, husbands, brothers, and sons
Leading us along their trails.
The women cook, the men trek
And we reap the rewards of both.
And in my own captured moment
Before the days work begins
I savor the peace, breathe it in
And as it infuses my soul,
I wish it well
Hoping it will return
Tomorrow
So we may meet again.
