Happy New Year everyone!
I never did make it to the city for New Years Eve. I got snowed in here in Albany. I had planned on taking the bus to the city, but the roads were just horrible, so I didn't go. A new bus service has started here in Albany recently, and if you book far enough in advance it is only $1 to NYC. Heck, I can now go shopping in the city if I plan far enough in advance. A few of my friends have used it already and say that it's pretty awesome. It drops you off right at Penn Station. I will let you know how it is after I use it, which should be in a couple of weeks.
I did have a pretty nice New Years though. I hung out locally with a few friends and avoided a lot of drunks. LOL We hit some of the clubs in downtown Albany and over on Lark. Overall it was quite a bit of fun. And then everyone got warm and crashed at my place. I had a living room full of friends in the morning, so I got to show off my cooking skills. I made a whole bunch of French Toast and scrambled eggs. Everyone was happy and nobody got food poisoning, so I guess I did pretty good.
I did make some resolutions for the new year, nothing special, but I think if I can stick to them I will be much better off. Here they are:
1) Get a new, more secure job.
2) Save money - stop spending on stuff I don't need.
3) Move - I really would like to move into a new place, either here in Albany, or in NYC.
4) Learn to keep my mouth shut about certain things - sometimes I talk without thinking of the consequences.
I made a few others, but those are more on the personal side, so I will keep those to myself for now. I don't want to jinx myself, or get someone angry. lol My wanting to move to NYC has caused a little friction in my personal life. Oh well, such is life! Always a drama.
Well, it is now time for my first poetry postings of the new year. Not sure which way I should start the new year. Should I post queer poems? love? humor? nature? or just freakish mind wanderings? hmmm! More drama! lol Maybe a little of everything.
Okay, I know! I know! Time to make a decision you doofus! It's only poems, no big whoop!
I hope you like what I have come up with this week for you.
Thank God For My Pen
I thank God
that I have a pen
for these thoughts
come again and again
without one in hand
I just don't know
just where oh where
these thoughts would go
whenever I travel
I take it with me
never know when
a thought will hit me
so tonight
before my head hits the pillow
Ill remember to thank God
for my pen and quillow!!!
My Forgetter
My forgetter's getting better,
but my rememberer is broke
to you that may seem funny
but, to me, that is no joke
for when I'm "here" I'm wondering
if I really should be "there"
and, when I try to think it through,
I haven't got a prayer!
Oft times I walk into a room,
say "what am I here for?"
I wrack my brain, but all in vain!
A zero, is my score.
At times I put something away
Where it is safe, but Gee!
The person it is safest from
is, generally, me!
When shopping I may see someone,
say "Hi" and have a chat,
then, when the person walks away
I ask myself, "who was that?"
Yes, my forgetter's betting better
while my rememberer is broke,
and it's driving me plumb crazy
and that isn't any joke.
