I just wanted to add some additional information to one of my rants from over the weekend. I had mentioned ow disappointed I was with the people on other social networking sites, in particular Tagged and Myspace. Well this morning I was going through the local news online and I come across a story with a picture of somebody I recognized. It was a woman that lives about 15 miles away from me that had hit on me a few times on Tagged. I never really talked to her online, I just kind of said hello and blew her off. I don't join those sites in search of sex partners, which is why I think she did. At least that is the impression that she left me with, After reading the article I was absolutely floored!
First let me say that I am a firm believer in people should be presumed innocent until proven guilty. I have seen too many innocent people railroaded by overzealous prosecuting attorneys - who, by the way, are protected by absolute immunity. That means that they can say what ever they want or accuse anyone of anything without fear of retribution, or punishment (see Michael Nifong).
I am going to paste the local news story here - minus the names. But I am also quitting Tagged. I am just losing faith in my fellow men and women right now. Well, here is the story:
RAVENA _ Police say they have arrested a woman and her live-in boyfriend for sexually abusing a 10-year-old child.
*********, 42, of Route 9W, was charged with a felony count of second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child and misdemeanor counts of second-degree sexual abuse and two counts of child endangerment.
**********, 34, faces a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child.
Authorities accuse ******** of sexually abusing the child twice between October 2007 and November 2008. He also is accused of showing the child online pornography, according to Coeymans police.
Police said ********** was charged with child endangerment because she knew about the first incident but did not report it.
