Hi everyone!
I hope everyone had a great week. My focus for the last week has been on getting a new job. I had 2 interviews last week that went pretty well, I think. I am hoping to hear something back. It's just a little hard trying to change career paths. I keep getting the same question: Why do you want to switch from marketing to IT? I have some certifications, but I don't have any experience yet in IT, so I am hoping somebody will take a chance on me.
I am off to the big city this week. I have taken this week off from work so that I can spend the week in NYC. I have several interviews lined up there already this week. Hopefully, I can lie up some more. I will be staying at my friend Patty's place in Astoria. She has told me to be prepared to go out every night! Woohoo! I already know some of the places we will be going to: Joe's Pub in Brooklyn, club hopping in Chelsea (and eating at the Viceroy!!!), and spending some time in the West Village! I will make it a point to visit The Stonewall! I know we will be doing more stuff, but I don't know what that is yet.
Other than that, my life has been pretty nice lately. No recent drama. I will fill you all in on how my week went next weekend. I still have to finish packing and then get to the train station at some point today.
Don't worry, I didn't forget about my writings. Do you think I could go a week without torturing you with my mindless ramblings??? lol This week I have chosen to take on the English language. I hope you enjoy!
The Foreigner
Went into a local store
in Paragould, Arkansas
and asked the clerk
where can I find a bag of ice?
The clerk replied
"ya'll mean a sack a ass"
I said, well not exactly
just a bag of ice
He said "row fower
next to the al-ko-haul"
I just said thank you
went and found my ice
Checking out at his counter
he said "yer a furiner ain't ya?"
I thought about that for a second
said, well I am no foreigner
just from New York, why?
"I can tell by yer ackcent"
I told him that I spoke normal
colloquial English and said
you're the one with an accent!
He said "ya'll neddin anythang mo?"
just directions back to the interstate
"ya' drav a fer piece down route nane"
"look for the whyate fance and turn noth"
Back in my car I wondered
am I the first person to visit Mars?
that was the oddest conversation
I hayve eveh hayd
If there were no verbs....
....and we had to invent new ones...
Before the sun un-days itself,
Horizoning in red.
I high my poems on the shelf
And duvet in my bed.
The poems, wording in my brain,
Nightmare me through the dark.
They sword and dagger me again,
I fin and gill -they shark
When daylight windows on my eyes,
And bugles me awake,
The cliff-noise of my heart re-highs,
And in the tub I lake
I panty, skirt - I food my mouth
I word my pad once more
But words non-pad! I north and south
And de-house by the door!
