saw cat power last night. don't really know if i enjoyed it, as i really like her solo stuff more. much prefer stuff from around moon pix, what would the community think era. yeh, people need to grow and change musically etc, and it's gotta be hard for musicians anyway. change your style and people are like "i like your old stuff". don't change your style and people are like "you're just rehashing the same stuff album after album". i guess it's hard for a fan too, 'cause you might like a certain style of music, and if they start doing something else (honestly, i'm not really a fan of this blues thing she's got going on), you do kinda have to say "i like your old stuff", but it's hard to say that without sounding like a musical wanker.

speaking of old stuff, kicking myself i missed sonic youth doing the daydream nation album. i wanted to go, just never got around to checking out when the concert actually was. if i hadn't found out they'd already played, i'd still be thinking yeh, i should buy a ticket soon.

oh!! and i missed broken social scene!!! kicking myself even more. they are without any doubt my most favourite band to see live. feeling like such a stupid for missing them. sigh. that's what i get for being a hermit crab and not keeping up with the world around me.

went to the movies on sat night (rode there by myself. felt really liberating to get on my motorbike at night, go there by myself, avoid all the crazy newtown traffic, park wherever i wanted). saw 'paranoid park' which was okay, and had me thinking about it on the ride home. i do want to go see 'the king of kong' (a movie about video games - perfect for a geek!!!). even 'be kind, rewind' looked good, and i'm not even a jack black fan.

*finally* got around to getting to the nude... i mean unclad beach on the weekend (was finally warm enough on the weekend). lots of wrinkly men and penises everywhere (some people have spent *waaay* too much time in the sun). i think there were maybe 2 women there, and lots of nekkid guys just standing around. we couldn't really figure out what they were doing. it was kinda weird. the only thing we could think of was maybe it's some kind of gay pick up place, and standing around by yourself means you're available. i don't know. anyway, it was good to get nekkid and go for a swim. and no sunburn on sensitive parts, so yay to that.
