this is what i got to do at work today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
seriously, the highlight of my week. right here.
yay!
I fucking love this job!!!! So, this is one of the owners dogs, she's usually white. Lol. And she always looks that sad, it's not just because I'm dying her. The owner dyed one of her other dogs as well, but he was solid turquoise. This is my first ''big'' dye job on a dog... I've put pink highlights on this dog's head before and tipped her tail, but that was it... the owner just wanted her head orange and the rest of her body pink... but when she told me to do whatever I felt like, this is what turned out. I am so happy with how well she turned out for my first real dye job. I miss dying my hair, but the owner did say I could put blue back in my hair....... hmm.... I think this might be what I want to specialize in when I become a groomer, or at least an avidly pursued past time when I become a groomer. I may have to invest in a poodle,though...... eek... maybe... AFTER I get another Dane or two. Lol.
I got to groom an English Setter the other day, and a Cocker Spaniel the week before. YAY!!! I DID! ME!!! So, four grooms on Golden Retrievers, one Great Pyrenese, the Setter and the Cocker under my belt! Woooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! And now dying. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.
I will admit, this is something that has always interested me, but I never wanted to pursue. It wasn't until I was unable to go to art school (money), or a technical college for custom paint jobs on cars and motorcycles and powersports, until my mom tried to persuade me to be a vet tech... we went to the school, checked it out. But I realized that if an animal died on me, I'd be devastated... whole college career out the window. So, five + years ago, I decided I wanted to become a groomer. I want back up plans, of course, but here I am, years later, 25 years old and FINALLY getting started on my career path!! YAY!!!!!! I'm so happy. My title will still be grooming assistant for some time yet... but I'm on my way, and that's what's really important.
I had no idea that there were actually international groom teams, conventions, competitions, etc... no clue. Until the recent months. My direct boss passed on some of her old ''groomer to groomer'' magazines... and I'm fixated on the creative grooming competitions... this stuff is absolutely nuts!!!
http://www.pinkcoyote.net/creativegrooming.html <----- fun stuff... but a LOT of time and dedication. It's a travesty about Leonardo, though... good idea, but how dare they insult the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles by adding ''doodle'' to the end of it... UG......... That brings me to another gripe that some others share with me.... "__________doodles" and ''__________ -a- pooes" , along with "Puggles'' and "Pom-chi's''............. let me try to make this as clear as possible.............
IT'S A FUCKING MUTT, YOU STUPID MORONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A MUTT!! A MIXED BREED DOG!!!!!!!!
So.... stop being idiots and paying 800+ dollars for a fucking MUTT!!!!! Hey, genius... by you supporting the fad mutts and buying them... you actually support puppy mills, since they've started breeding them too just to make a buck.
Yes, I am more than willing to pay 2000.00 for a Euro bloodline Dane... A PUREBRED!! There are PLENTY of MIXED breed dogs in shelters that NEED homes so they don't get put to sleep. But noooooooooooooooo, you want a fad mutt, that, most likely will end up in a shelter anyway...
Goldendoodles and labradoodles... ok, I personally would like to meet the person that thought mixing a poodle with anything that has an undercoat would be a good idea, and punch them in the face. 'nuff said.
So, there's the abridged version of my rant on irresponsible pet ownership... yes, I call you people that support fad mutts irresponsible. Oh, and fyi, I DO rescue and foster shelter mutts. Yes, I love my Danes, but I also love mutts, and I try to help save their lives, unlike you.
The end.
Wow, that totally sounded like crazed animal rights jargon... but it's really not, it's kind of common sense... yes, the fad mutts are cute... but c'mon... there are TONS of cute mixes. Don't be a sucker.

You are TOO sweet The dog looks awesome. I'm an animal rescuer myself. 8 cats and 4 dogs, between my parents house and my house. I used to work with the humane society and what not. It's awesome to see other people still care.
