I'm sick today. Like, my-albuterol-is-useless sick. And I don't have any sick leave yet. I'm hoping my boss and I can work something out so this isn't an unpaid day.
It's nice to know that I can cook meals that look as good as they taste. One of these days I might have the willpower to photograph one before I eat it.
I just donated $25 to Obama's campaign. It's the most politically active I've ever been, although that may be due to being thoroughly confused for two and a half years about when the Hatch Act did and did not apply to my actions.
I am apparently the only person in the world who refuses to play the game. It drives me nuts. Every time someone says "I just lost the game" it makes me want to stab people (namely whoever said it but once the blood lust sets in...you know).
The Humanities and Social Sciences department at my school just put up my photography show. It's going to be up until December 8 and it looks great. This is really exciting.

In re: the finger crossing . . . It depends on how long the hiring cycle is. I can't give you a definite timeframe, but I appreciate your contribution to the cause.
FYI, I'm a ways away from all the LA fires, so I just have to deal with smoke. My family voluntarily evacuated from San Diego yesterday, but things in their area have taken a turn for the better, so they went back this afternoon.
I am going to Florida for work until next Wednesday. Trust me, it's not glamorous, although I hope it will be fun (no guarantees on that, though). I may or may not be in contact while I'm gone.
Life update: I'm spending the summer working at Heat, Light, and Sound Research in sunny San Diego (little known fact: it is actually impossible to prepend San Diego with an adjective other than sunny). This is very true. I can tell random strangers (aka people on the internet) intimate details of my life I wouldn't be able to tell the vast majority of most of my friends.
