off to work I go.
Happy record store day, everybody.
Go and buy at least one bit of music today from an independent record store.
Tell the guy at the counter what you like-- have them help you. You might find something new. Let their music nerdiness aid you in your search for a good fucking disc.
I'm gonna hit the music store on my way to work. A few days ago I mentioned having seen a band called The King Brothers. The next morning I made my way to Easy Street Records and ordered their disc. Now it's arrived and I'm gonna go pick that shit up.
poop update:
I took a normal dump yesterday, and a couple of not-so-normal ones.
I'm not sure what the deal is, but I can't WAIT to see what happens today. Still on a strict diet of sprite, toast, water, and shit like that.
I saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall last night and I really, really liked it.
That Apatow... he's got something. He had it when he produced The Cable Guy, and he has it now. And I love that it said "written by Jason Segel."
He did that shit, and he did it good. I mean, it's... nothing NEW here, necessarily. It just worked on me. it made me laugh a lot. It made me laugh hard. I thought most everything about it worked, even if some of the cuts seemed a little... clunky.
The scenes with Billy Baldwin fucking ruled, and a couple of the apatow regulars make appearances too (though not hilarious ones).
The only real problem I had with the movie is Mila Kunis, who is like... genetically engineered to be absolutely perfect. Goddesses like that don't fall for big doofy dorks like Jason Segel's character (and me). If you're a guy, and you watch this movie, you'll fall for her. Oh God. Really. I bet even girls watching the movie will fall for her.
Before the movie I saw the preview for the new Mike Myers movie and it made me want to cut myself and set the theatre on fire. The Love Guru. People eat that shit up. Oh look, he made a funny face.
Then there was the preview for Pineapple Express which was so goddamn funny I was afraid it would be the funniest thing about the evening. I can't wait. Cant. If I could preorder the DVD now, I would. I like David Gordon Green. I love that he'd be doing an Apatow movie, after All the Real Girls and Undertow.
Anyway, yes. off to work.

Both Beth and I supported a local record shop today. The clerk was shocked that we knew about Record Store Day. Thanks. I got Sharon Jones (on the clerk's recommendation), best of 60's-era Aretha Franklin, and a cheap used Lou Reed album of Edgar Allen Poe interpretations. Beth got a Band of Horses disc, a Led Zeppelin disc, and something else.
