Well, I found a nice apartment, so im very happy about that. I'm also worked up the nerve to ask my friend Mary out on a date, which we are going on this coming weekend. I'm up for two possible promotions at work, and although one of them is a bit of a longshot, the other one I am extremely confident about.
Some friends and I went rafting this weekend on the Vermillion river near Streator, which isn't that far from Peoria. It's not whitewater, but when it's been raining like it has, the river gets pretty rough in a couple spots. After one of the nastier spots, where we took on a decent amount of water, we stopped at the next sandbar to dump the water out of the raft, and found a rather attractive woman sunbathing with some gear in another raft. She was obviously with some people, but they were nowhere to be seen, so I amazed my pals by immediately chatting her up, starting with the line 'we have cherries and beer if you want to sunbathe over here'. I'm not saying we would have started making out, but I think my boldness impressed her. Too bad the other people she was with came hiking back up, one of whom I guessed was her boyfriend, cause I guarantee the next thing I was gonna ask was if she wanted to make out.
It feels nice that within the last 3-4 months I've really lost most of my fear of women and my fear of embarassment, cause it felt really good to just obviously show interest in her. Hell, that night I got invited to a party, and asked for a phone number within 30 minutes and I know I would have gotten it if I hadn't managed to pick one of the two married chicks there that night.
