Just wanted to say an official good-bye and thank those who were willing to be my friends during my time here. Like so many other Photographer Hopefuls, I had hopes of achieving a Set of the Day, but I'm not feeling so "hopeful" about that occurring anymore, and my membership expires in a few days.
For one thing I've requested multiple times to be a member of the regional group where I live. I've never had a response to my requests or to emails to the group moderator. Without this connection it is impossible to find models who may wish to work with me.
I've gone as far as traveling 300 miles one way to do some sets in Southern California, which though I thought were among my best, the model deleted them, leaving no record for others to view.
Another curious experience was agreeing to travel over 200 miles to the Bay Area for someone who was very eager for us to do a set... until she realized I was a guy and was sure to do her harm. Talk about judging a book by its cover. I thought one of the main points of SG was accepting people for who they were and not prejudging them. Still scratching my head over that one.
Anyway... without any avenues for finding willing models, there is really no way to submit sets or improve my technique or reason for being here. I may be unusual in that I wasn't here to view Sets of the Day... nice as they are. I wanted to create something beautiful.
I have had some fun, unrelated to SG with making some Vimeo submissions, one of which has reached 20,000 views in under a week.

So I guess the lesson is if something isn't working, try something else. We are all good at something. But finding it can be tricky. =)
I wish you all the best,
g7
