Five-Minute fiction - 14:53-14:58

Ive been killed by harder men than you, Dard said as he struggled to his feet.

A guttural sound, somewhere between a laugh and growl emanated from the brutes mouthpiece, the metallic piece giving the laugh a strange metallic tang. The brute hefted the crowbar the curved casting a strange shadow in the dim light of the factory.

It plunged down in what should have proved to be a devastating arc, provided it had connected with something. Dard, wincing with pain, stepped back and drew in his breath. Darkness circled his vision and he watched as the crowbar plunged. Unused muscles tensed and his arms jerked spasmodically as he threw them forward the wrists pressed together. The bolt, or blast, or energy took the brute in the chest and pitched him backward along the gantry. He landed in a heap and Dard took a step forward, staggering.

Cmon if you think youre hard, he said the muscles in his arms twitching with the effort.
The brute struggled to his feet, the crowbar clanking as it banged against the metal grating of the gantry.
