Five-Minute fiction - 22:20-22:25
Thren pressed his advantage. The guards retreated almost falling over themselves in their haste to escape his deadly blade. Each step drove them further and further back, and away from the helpless girl. He turned back once to make sure the girl was still all right, but she was unmoving. She lay in the street her hair and clothes soaked in the constant rain. Blood trickled from her mouth and nose, the slender rivulets, whisked away by the water.
The guards broke into a run as Thren pushed them to the corner. The clatter of metal on stone filled the street managing to even cut through the pounding of the rain. The vagrants seen off Thren turned and retreated. The girls prone body lay alone in the street. Her basket, of homemade wicker, lay not far the cloth that had covered it discarded and the contents scattered. He stooped to check her, her chest rose and fell, but her breath was faint
