for the pics in my journal i used a $15 holga medium format camera. its pretty much a toy but it works. the reason they look kinda weird is i left the film setting out after i had taken it and it got a little bit of a light burn since it wasnt rolled up tight and i also used it for my test roll at my first try at developing. to tell you the truth i cant even remember what pics i sent lush but i would have used either the holga, a russian lomo, or a canon rebel to take them with.
Got my Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers 4 disc DVD on Thursday evening and I JUST EMERGED. Spent some of it going through papers, making jewelry and ringing chain mail together during the slower parts of cast commentary and "making of" stuff, but WOW. I've felt that whole "let's hate people due to one blurb" thing...for instance I used to play D&D and when my mom found out, she really sobbed and told me never to play those "demon dice games." Well, she got over it as she was able to look past the one or two isolated, yet highly publicized incidents of satanic/suicide practices, and realize the game for what it was: her son being creative and enjoying some healthy fantasy role-playing.
Likewise, I am a computer gamer (video gamer as well), and I resent the idea that just because a few people MIGHT have done violence due to an influence from a game, that suddenly all video game violence is bad. Etc. I worded that badly, but it's late afternoon and I've exceed MY quota of thinking as well...stupid work...
