If you are vegan, would you choose to be a butcher? Most likely no, you wouldn't because that would make you a sell-out. (Def. Sell-out: a person who compromises their integrity for a paycheck)
If you are religious, would you put take a job that goes against your religious beliefs? Apparently you would because you are a special fucking snowflake.

These asshole pharmacists think they can choose NOT to fill prescriptions that conflict with their religious beliefs. FUCK!
So, instead of doing their job properly and filling whatever medication is prescribed by your doctor (you know, the person that examined your condition and you trust to treat your ailment...) they think they should be able to deny you because it goes against their beliefs (compromising their integrity, making them a sell-out).
The article says:
"But some at the meeting said that forcing pharmacists to fill prescriptions against their religious beliefs was also a kind of discrimination.
"For me to go to work, and leave my heart and my morals at home, I can't do it," said Allison Pham, 23, a student at the University of Washington's School of Pharmacy"
ok, it's not just me right. There's a big fucking blinking glaring bloody problem with those two paragraphs, right? I'll get back to this.
analogy time. say you had a vegan pizza maker at a local pizza restaurant. and say this person decided they wouldn't make any pizza with meat toppings because it went against their beliefs. This person would be fired. period.
Say you had a construction worker who decided working on military housing was supporting the war effort, which she happens to be against. If she decides to sit the job out, she doesn't get paid. She has to find a new job.
The point is, people in every industry have to face choices that may conflict with their beliefs. If they CHOOSE to do their job as best they can, they will comprise their integrity. If they CHOOSE not to compromise their integrity, therefore not do their job, they could be fired or not get paid or not be eligible for a promotion or "some bad thing".
The other point is that if you don't want to be put in a position where you might have to compromise your integrity, you don't take a job where you might be put in that position. If you are a vegan, you don't put yourself in a position where you have to work with meat. You sit in a tree or bomb animal testing facilities. If you are a christian against abortion, you don't work in an abortion clinic, you work in some other industry and take sharpshooting lessons you can kill abortion doctors from 1/2 a mile away.
So what the fuck makes pharmacists think they can pick and choose which prescriptions to fill?
Back to that quote above. "Allison Pham, 23, a student at the University of Washington's School of Pharmacy" It is against Allison's "heart and morals" to do a pharmacists job properly and fill the prescriptions that come her way. Allison is a student, studying to become a pharmacist. Why the fuck does Allison want to be a pharmacist if she morally disagrees with the core responsibilities of a pharmacist? Allison is a fucktard. Fuck Allison Pham. Allison, be a nun. Be a financial planner. Be a social worker. Be an adoption agent. Don't pay $20,000 for a degree in an industry you are morally opposed to.
It only occurs to me as I write this and drink more and more wine that the only explantion is a paranoid one. At first I thought these pharmacists were over-priviledged assholes who grew up outside the constraints of pesky things like having to work for a living. But now it's clear. No. These are rightwing soldiers infiltrating key positions in the social fabic. America's own sleeper cells, awake and subverting your right to healthcare.
whatever. stuff. This is bad and you should know about it before some NA ex-junky pharmacist won't fill your Oxycontin prescription. Or some right-wing asshole wont give you the morning after pill the day after you are date raped. Or won't sell you condoms with nonoxynol-9 because killing sperm perpetuates "the wheel of karma".
the other thing from the article is:
""This issue goes far beyond women's access to contraception, but appeals to the right of all patients to have their prescription filled without judgment or discrimination," wrote Gregoire."
I respect her for that statment and I feel the same way.
I feel better now, thanks.
