so last night, i decided on my way home from work, that i should start doing something about the fact that ive been gaining weight steadily over the past 3 years. im almost 200 lbs now, up from 175 before i moved to MA. not good. its a downward spiral to say the least. so in my infinite wisdom,
i thought i would start with something 'simple', like sit-ups. now, i havent ever exercised since highschool, and that was only in gym class. for quite a few years though, i went inline skating for hours and hours every single day, rain or shine, snow or not. i guess i hadnt realiized at the time that it was keeping me in shape. now that i live up here, and never leave my apartment, its a different story. i get no exercise, period.
so i came home, dropped my work clothes back in the closet, and started a pot of boiling water to make food. i figured i would do my situps while it started to boil. i had this briliant idea that 40 situps would be a GREAT place to start, as i remember being able to do 100 back in highschool. oh boy, what a mistake. first of all, i forgot about the whole 'repetitions' thing, instead of doing it all at once. i should have done maybe 4 sets of 10. i reached 10 easilly, and was almost dieing by 15. how could something that sounded so simple be so difficult? fuck, i am so out of shape. at any rate, i struggled up to 20. i then waited for my water to boil and threw the noodles in, stirred them around a bit, and realized i hadnt gotten to 20 yet. so back to the floor i went to do another 20. this time, it was a struggle to get to 10, but i laid there between situps until i managed to drop another 20. a total of 40 in about 30 minutes or so. i guess thats a good start.
today however, i am sore! blah. once i stop being a lazy fuck and do this every day it wont be so bad.
so yeah, situps, they kicked my ass.
