I've been up to a lot and I'd like to post a nice picture-filled entry, but right now I'm freaking the fuck out.
I've been contemplating a move to good ole SF. I love that city even though every time I visit I get sick and I'm always cold (that's saying something). I haven't been happy here for awhile, plus all my friends are far away as it is so why not just move to SF where I know I can see some friends with more ease (to name a few: Joscelyn, Jeremy, KiwiPrincess, Subrosa, Necia, Zamn (no whining -- here's your shout out) and probably most importantly requiem).
I could probably keep my job, at least for awhile, because I can telecommute. My boss told me Friday that I can essentially work anywhere. We've been discussing me working in Glendale one or two days a week. I think that might be a good temporary solution because I'd get to know the rest of the people I work with (currently we communicate through e-mail) and I'd get to have a couple days without having to directly deal with the idiots who make my job so difficult.
A coworker who lived there said there are plenty of publication companies I could get a job with. Then again maybe it's time to get out of the editing business, but that goes back to the question of just the fuck would I do if I'm not doing journalism/editing?
But I'm worried because I really do hate moving and I do hate working remotely because it's so much easier to yell across the room and the current system we use isn't really Mac friendly. Oh shit I just realized we're switching over to a new system (who knows when) and I vaguely remember the IT guy saying it was a pain to use on a Mac. FRICK!
I would miss two of my coworkers a lot and a few of my friends here, which is only natural. The friends I'm pretty sure I'd keep in contact with and see, but the two coworkers would be more difficult.
So aside from all the normal worries is my roommate and this is what I'm really upset about. We received a notice in the mail that the last three days of our lease we have to vacate the apartment so the HOA can fumigate. This led me to tell her I was considering moving when the lease ends in two and a half months. She said she wants two months notice from me so she could make her arrangements. I think that's too much to ask (we have a written, signed agreement that we'd give 30 days notice). That means I have to make my decision in two weeks. Ideally the landlord will let us go onto a month to month situation. That way I can have a little more time. She likes that idea as well.
I'm just frustrated because I don't know if two and a half months is enough time for me to decide. I know if I do decide to move I can move in with requiem until I find a place in SF. That would mean getting Internet at his place though so I can work.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, especially from you SFers.
