This is from an e-mail I sent my male bff, Kitty. I made modifications for you, Gentle Readers, just for you.
Sunday I went to the Carson Animal Shelter only to find out it was closed. I cried the entire way home.
I was too depressed to go back yesterday so I went this morning after waking up at 10 a.m. (that's sooo early for me!). Turns out the place doesn't open until noon so I toodled around for 20 minutes then went in.
The cat building has cages that face both inside and out so as I walked around to the door, I could see most of the kitties, many of whom were meowing. It made me want to cry because I couldn't take them all home. A few outside were trying to get my attention but this one gray one was so insistent, but not even really with meowing, it was like she was calling to me. But she wasn't a barn tabby so I dismissed her.
Inside the building I looked at all the kittens because that's what Ivarr said he wanted. I found a cute little barn tabby like I wanted but she just seemed afraid and uninterested. It made me sad because she was super cute. There were other kittens but most were boys and I really want a girl. A worker came in and asked if I was looking for a lost cat or to adopt. I told him I wanted to adopt and found myself in front of the gray cat's cage. She rubbed against the bars and acted like she wanted all the love I could give her. I scritched her ears and rubbed her head. I asked the worker about her. He said she was one of the nicest cats in the building and would allow herself to be held whereas the other cats try to get away. I asked about her sex because it said unknown on her tag. He said, "I think it's a boy, but let's look" and pulled her out. She sat in his arms like it was nothing and totally let him spread her legs (little slut! <-- awes she's just like me!). He said she was a girl. I was soooo thrilled.
I was sold. I told him I wanted her. He looked at her tag and said she just came in yesterday (good thing I was too depressed I might have missed her!) so they'd have to hold her for five days just in case the owners come looking for her. I was heart broken. I wanted to cry.
So I went to the office and gave 'em her impound number. The woman behind the counter told me to come back between 3 and 6 p.m. Monday. I have to work and was a bit freaked out but my boss, Hamlet, said I could come in late. Elizabeth, the features editor, said she'd cover for me if she had to.
So who wants to come play with my kitty next week? (And pray this week that I actually get to have her.)
This means I won't be moving. Chckpotpie didn't want me getting a cat because she thinks three is too much. I'll have to break it to her gently.
I also want this:
Anyone want to build it? Or know how to? I'd like to make some modifications. Otherwise I'll buy it from Sky Mall.

I suspect the main reason you want that thing is because it has a cute door. I suggest going to a thirftstore and finding a similar table and adding the door. The only tricky part at all is the curve at the top of the door. For that you'd just go to homedepot or something and see what curved moldings they have and cut the hole for the door to fit. I could do it, but then you'd super-duper owe me.
