Today was oddly productive.
I went to work and was there for two hours before they figured out how sick I was and sent me home. That's the first time ever I've been sent home from work. I understand that a cold could wipe out our entire office. But still! At least they let me work at home so I can still get paid. That's the nice thing about such a small operation, the boss knows all the employees and our lives. She really, really fucking understanding. I love that about her.
On my way home I stopped at Jamba Juice for a cold buster. I'd been jonsing for one all day but couldn't find parking before work. Any who, I get in there and there's Teenage Girl No. 1 and Teenage Girl No. 2 in front of me. No problem. Only No. 1 orders. I order. I wait for my order. In the mean time No. 2 goes back and orders. I continue waiting. No. 1 gets her order. Another drink comes up, but the Jamba worker doesn't call out a name. No. 2 takes it. Now how is it No. 2's drink came up before mine? But I'm not convinced this has happened. I wait for my drink some more because we let a worker go just as a rush comes in. I'm trying to be patient but then I noticed there are is an extra couple people in the back goofing off. I'm also really fucking sick and all the noise is making my head pound. H'OK, so, it finally looks like I'm going to get my drink when this mother and daughter zip right in front of me. Now I was standing near the counter, but trying to be out of the way. They plant themselves like almost on top of the counter. Mom is literally drumming her hands on the counter. The stood so close, I almost fell over. So my drink finally comes up. But I have to dance around mom and girlie to get to it then dance around them the other way to get a straw. All the while they look at me like how dare I invade their territory. I hate people.
Finally, I get home. Blessed, blessed home. I make a few calls to write stories. Of course no one was around to answer. Then I got ahold of one woman and work sent me a few more stories to edit. I worked for five hours straight. Despite being sick, I got it all done. I'm pretty happy with myself.
So I got dinner, watched "Phenomenon," which totally made me cry (one of my biggest fears is seeing my husband die), and worked on my finances.
Now I need to research how to get tickets for "Mind of Mencia." A certain boy wants me to make chocolate chip cookies when he's visiting. No worries, he's no replacement for RS. He's somewhere near the bottom of the list.
