I think I need someone to make an intervention here. I'm tired and stressed, although done writing the first foolish paper of this class. I should be jumping for joy, dancing around on tabletops, but no...I'm still worrying about my damn grade for Pete's sake! I have no confidence.
Terrakotta's list of 20 interesting facts about herself have caused me to now begin pondering my own...
1. I love nerds. Anyone who is the least bit nerdy (i.e. likes science, likes reading, etc.) come talk to me
2. Among my guilty pleasures is O, the Oprah Magazine (I just love her), Forensic Files and Celtic music
3. I was married once at 23 but it didn't work out. We are still extremely good friends.
4. I dislike little children although I could eventually see myself as a mom. I think I would be like the mom on Gilmore Girls and act more like a sister to my daughter. Yes, I'm convinced I'm going to have a girl.
5. I have a degree in Art that I do absolutely nothing with, and also an associate's degree in Chemistry. I love Organic Chemistry.
6. I drive a Chevy Cavalier with a dent in the door and 121,000 miles on it...best damn car I've ever owned!
7. My fiancee and I are complete opposites but I think that's what makes us work so well. He is the best guy in the world
8. I suffer from panic disorder and have an intense fear of enclosed spaces. I am proud of myself that I am slowly getting over my fear and am able to take elevators on a daily basis for work.
9. I was born in redneck town, lived in trailer growing up and continue to have contact with my redneck family. For years I tried incessantly to rid myself of my redneck roots but I'm rather glad I kept them. I'm the one that will read you medieval literature and then take you to a tractor pull...YEEHAW!!
10. I am a strong supporter of programs against domestic violence and even created a website for domestic violence education at Umass. My father is an abusive alcoholic...I will never cower to any man ever!
11. I love animals and I have a hard time killing even the icky ones, like spiders and beetles (yes, I know those are insects so they don't count but they have lives, too!)
12. I was in the hospital room when my ex-husband's mother died. He didn't make it there in time
It was one of the saddest things I have ever witnessed. She was a wonderful, lively woman and I will never forget her.
13. My mother re-met and re-married her first husband (not my dad) after 37 years.
14. I worked at an answering service for 8 years and I now hate talking on the phone to people. You would be amazed what people will pick up the phone to complain about!
15. I sometimes feel that I have dreams that will never be achieved and that makes me sad
16. If Dunkin Donuts stopped making French Vanilla Iced Coffee I think I would die.
17. I have a Walmart addiction. Don't laugh! This also falls into the guilty pleasure category even though I know they're a terrible company to work for, they want to destroy small town America, blah, blah!
18. I got married to my ex-husband in Las Vegas. We drove there because I dislike flying. 14 days in a truck and 8000 miles. I feel lucky to have seen as much of the United States, pre-9/11, as I did.
19. If I could live anywhere in the United States it would have to be Boston. I love that city...although driving in it is a challenge.
20. When I was a kid, I dreamed of becoming a doctor and used to take care of my mom who suffered from severe migraine headaches. I used to make her coffee and use my fake thermometer to take her temperature
So that's my 20. And now that I'm reading them I realize now more than ever that I need to get some excitement going! Nah....I'm really happy with just the way things are
