Geez Louise.
I just got back from a weekend at Knott's Berry Farm.
Brian (that's mr_demille to you all) and his 10 year old sister, myself and my 12 year old brother all packed into a car, drove up and went to the Halloween Haunt they've got going on now.
Word of Advice:
DO NOT TAKE A 10 YEAR OLD GIRL TO KNOTTS SCARY FARM!
Anne was so scared that Brian ended up carrying her 75% of the time, and I felt like a freaking tank commander trying to keep everyone together, as it was so crowded.
We left around 1 am without having ridden any rides, but with a huge bag of flashing, light-up, glow in the dark tchochkies.
We decided that the way to redeem the whole weekend was by going back on Sunday and riding everything when it was not as busy and goddamned werewolves weren't jumping out at us. Brian and I hadn't gotten to sleep until around 5am Sunday morning and I wanted to try and get to the park when it opened at 10 am. Um, that didn't happen.
We all woke up at 10 and after we got the kids dressed, brushed and ready and the room packed up, Brian went to take a shower. The kids wandered by the amazing pool/hot tub/tropical garden at the hotel. (Our room had a little knee high gated patio that opened into the pool area. It was neat!)
It's now 11:50.
I was trying to get Brian to hurry up when all of a sudden I saw Anne standing on the patio. Fully clothed and dripping wet.
She fell in the damned pool. She and my brother were fishing an inner tube out of the pool and she just tumbled in head first. After I freaked out and almost vomited from fear , we got her showered, dressed, and re-clothed. But her adorable Jack Skellington Converse were full of water and she only had flip flops to wear. Knotts has a no flip flop policy. It's now 12:30.
In oder to get in the park, we had to buy her some close-toed shoes. We drove around forever trying to find a Payless or something. No luck. We finally found a Rite Aid and stopped to see if they had anything. No luck there either. I'm trying to call the park to see if the shoe policy is only for the nightime event, I'm on hold and freaking out. I find out flip flops are okay during the daytime. We stop at a Burger King to eat, I take some Ativan, we get to the park.
It's now 2:30. The park closes at 5:30.
We hauled ass, rode rides, bought stuff and managed to "trick or treat" in Camp Snoopy. I rode the Hat Dance (Knotts Berry Farms version of the Disneyland Teacups) and The Jaguar rollercoaster.
My back was so sore and battered from the walking, spinning, running, protecting, freaking out, carrying, sitting and sleeping in a crap hotel bed that I didn't go to work today.
But all in all, it was a good weekend.
Oh yeah, the 23rd marked Brian and I being together for 5 months and me being at my job for one year.
Guess which one is more important to me?

First the entries are too short. Then they're too long. There's no middle ground with you is there? Happy Samhain.

How was SAW anyways? I hear some people say YAY and others NAY. Oh, and we went to the 3 haunted thingies downtown with Jes and her hubby. Kinda fun.
