Well. Where to begin?
First off, thank you to all who gave me your lovely birthday wishes.
I was given many wonderful gifts that I do not deserve and was spooned full of cake until my skin smelled of buttercream icing.
I had dinner and saw a wonderful play with an old friend last night, and then talked until dawn with a new one.
Then I was swirled back to work early (too early..) this morning to fill and tie 10 dozen helium ballons and ice another cake for a baby shower. Then trudge home to my bed for an hour of rest and a shower, then return shiny, virginal, and clean to my parents' home for dinner and gifts and The Spanish Inquisition.
(And yes, I did expect The Spanish Inquisition. )
I was poked, prodded, cross-examined, questioned, and then...given some more cake. My mum and da are concerned that a girl of my now advanced years has no plans on settling down and marrying in the next, say, 2 days.
"Time to spread yourself around more, meet some new people.", says Mum, "Just don't get pregnant!"
Da chimes in with "What about that last girl you were with, she seemed very nice..."
Says I, "Daaa! You know we're not seeing each other anymore. And Mum...well...I'll try to spread myself around without getting knocked up. Does that satisfy everyone?? Okay? Fine then."
Time for more cake!!!!

Anyways, happy belated birthday. I hope that your parents understand that settling down isn't something that you decide to do one day. It's something that happens over an extended period of time. Besides, settling down isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Cake, cake, wonderful cake.
