Lately I’ve been noticing more and more of those “car memorials.” For those of you who haven’t observed this phenomenon yet, a car memorial is decal usually placed in the back window to commemorate someone who has passed away. They include doves or similar imagery and read something like: “Rest in Peace John Smith, 1962-2005.”
Now I’m the first one to acknowledge funerals are for the living. Getting over the death of the loved one is hard and it helps to have signs and ceremony. However, I think people should strongly consider the make and appearance of a vehicle before turning it into a memorial.
I just imagine the person looking down from the Great Wherever and saying: “Thanks for dedicating your ’98 Dodge Neon to me. The clothes hanger antenna and replacement fender still in the gray primer paint really captures my personal style.” Think about it. Would you go to the granite seller and pick out some hoopty gravestone? Probably not.
All of this is really about closure, though. And I’m a huge fan of closure. Most of the time closure for me involves some form of writing. This is good news for my friends and family because the back window of my pickup is too small for decals and I don’t think anyone wants to be memorialized on my ’95 Honda Accord.
How do you get closure when things end? (Feel free to invite other people on the site to answer as well.)

But yeah, was a good game. We had the game the night before wrapped up.. you guys stole it... we stole last night.... all is fair in baseball. Love the race. Well, as long as it doesn't turn out like last year.
Taken at #162... it still hurts.
But anyway, a win this year would give me some closure.
