Well, I feel a vague need to explain myself, but my absence has probably made most of my friends here fade away anyway.
The major reason I haven't been updating much either here or on my LJ is that I've had my head down with the job search. Ick. JFP (Jobs For Philosophers) came out Monday, which means that I've spent most of this week obsessing over where I'm going to ask to be nominated, and the past few weeks have been spent working on all the stupid shit I need for my dossier - writing sample, letters of support, model syllabi, my "teaching philosophy" letter (blarg), etc. The nom committee meeting is on Monday, though - so at least I'll have some closure on that. And there are a few jobs out there that I qualify for, and that are good (but competition is going to be hella stiff, and I'm at a second-tier institution, so...). American's got a position in their Law & Society program, but they'd prefer a J.D./Ph.D. (and I bet they get one). UMBC has a political phil job open, and I love Baltimore, and one of my old mentors is on the hiring committee, so I've got my fingers crossed. And UConn, while it's not the best location (we'd probably have to live in Providence and get two cars so that M could work in Boston) wants someone for their new Human Rights program. So we'll see.
But for now,

By the way, I've probably got the hook up for the shows at the theatre this week, if you're interested.
