I spent an amazing New Years in Dundee with a couple of good friends from the town. Had a few drinky poo's in the new bar listening to a J. Cash style tribute band. I must say, very impressive! The night was a success although I think we could have called it a night at 7am, instead of chasing taxis until the early hours of 9 or 10 in a bid to find a party still in full swing.
My god did my feet hurt though. Those "killer" heels certainly werent joking around.

I've been thinking, far too deeply too, for a long time now about the effects we have on the world. The bad and good ones. It was always one of those feelings in the back of my head, you could say, that we are doing far more damage to our planet than we think, even in our so called attempts to prevent global warming etc etc blah blah. I watched the documentary on Ch4 the other night about Our Human Footprint, and even just breathing, eating, shitting and washing we create a considerable amount of waste. Without even having to try we are filling the planet up with crap. Quite literally. My final solution to this problem, for me (as sad as it may seem) is suicide. Its pretty harsh, I agree, but the only way that I feel I could make any positive difference to the planet is to just stop living. I really don't mean to sound drastically depressed and gloomy, but that was the solution of a weeks worth of thinking. Now, after finding the brilliance of Sayward Rebhal's blog
Bonzai Aphrodite I am slowly but surely going to completely redesign my life. My diet has been changing over the past year-ish and I am now proudly along the vegan pathway. The next box on the check list to tick is my material lifestyle: clothing, toilettries, cleaning products, cosmetics you name it. I feel HORRIBLE that everytime I sit on the crapper or brush my teeth or wash my hair I am contributing to the decay of my planet. This could be considered a deep subject to some people, but i think that we all need to start actually thinking about this properly. If we dont do something now we will be living in desert by 2100. If not sooner....scary?
P.S.
I spent the MOST AMAZING afternoon on the local beach, which was covered in snow and ice and pebbles and shells. I have a nice wee collection of perfectly oval, curved, colourful pebbles to shine up and place on my window ledge and some amazing shells which I am hoping will look lovely on a nice piece of chord. Photos to come.

Does anyone actually read this crap?
I'm actually studying massage and spa therapy, and I have to take about 300 hours of anatomy to get my liscence. bah i can't spell that word.
There are definitely ways to live that don't cause so much destruction of the planet, just modern folks don't really live those ways, probably because often they're not comfortable. For instance, right now there is no heat in my apartment. And terrible insulation, thermometer says it's 60F in here, but I am sure it's colder. If the heater were on, we'd be using so much electricity, and everyone else is too... It is easy to think that the best thing for humans to do is to be wiped off the planet, but I prefer to idealistic and believe that we are here, so surely we have a place and a right to be here, just like other forms of life.
Composting your waste to help your garden/any soil actually improves the soil quality. There are natural toothpastes/shampoos that can be bought (or made very simply) that don't harm the water, and you could use collected rain water or water flowing from a spring or something similar to bathe in or brush your teeth. It's just about comfort I think, but I also feel we're getting to a point where it's not going to matter much what is comfortable as opposed to what is sustainable. Humans have lived fine for thousands of years,it's only recently they started to really fuck up.
Congrats on being vegan ! I've seen a lot of people switching lately on this site, and it makes me feel all a flutter, love when people make choices that they feel are better.
