My wife and I have 10 acres, mostly wooded. This is about the time of year to go hunting for ginseng. I took my walking stick made of american chestnut (from an old fence rail) with me.
Now, what I don't understand is why spiders feel the need to build webs at eye level. Don't bugs fly higher and lower than eye level?
So, instead of using the walking stick the way it's supposed to be used, here I am carrying the thing out in front of my face like a scared peasant with a lantern. Didn't even scare the squirrels.
Not sure if what I found was ginseng or not. The leaves were right but no red berries. I'll have to check again next weekend.
