so today i am starting my "apprenticeship" learning clock repair. my friend has this clock repair business and needs help. i have a thing for any fine craftmanship. they are lost art forms. clock repair/time study, glass blowing, screen printing, pottery, blacksmiths, wood working, etc... they are all just hobbies these days it seems. my profession is almost a lost art...most framers let machines do the work now. but i still do everything by hand...only with the help of the occasional power tool!!
anyway...
it will be fun to learn a new trade. and, the clock repair guy always has a stash of moonshine at the shop!! he knows how to keep his workers happy...
cropshy:
When I was little, there was an elderly semi-relative I saw a few times who made grandfather clocks. I don't remember if he got heavily into the mechanics of the clocks, but they were beautiful. I'd love to have one, but he died 20 years ago probably.
