Ok. Let's get all good and proper now. I had one hell of a busy weekend...to say the least. Something like 20,000 people attended X-Fest this year. . Me and one other girl were in charge of transportation and taking care of the 20 bands scheduled to play. Needles to say, this didn't leave me much spare time to fuck around. I still managed to have a good time, but I do have to say that, around the 13th hour of working on Sunday, I got incredibly fatigued and super-depressed. I couldn't shake the thought that I would probably have to drive home with no chance of seeing my girl for another week, and the only time we really had to spend together was dinner for an hour the night before. Dinner was good, and it really made me feel good that we got to see each other. But when then the realization came that I wouldn't get to see my kitty for another week it shot me all to hell. Immediately, after 15 and a half of hours of work, from the beginning through to the end of the show, I said "Fuck it" and hightailed it out to Diamond's to see my girlie. After a few hours of R&R, I slipped back to her house and later into her arms- definitely what the doctor ordered. I think I would have been a fucking train wreck had I not gotten to spend time w/my girlie.....the stress from the weekend and all the shit I've been working to finish from the week before (finalizing the deal for my house, trying to get it inspected, readying artwork for the gallery, full time job, finishing more graphix for my website) really had done a number on me.
Needless to say...it was a good time working the festival. Got to hang (briefly) with the Rabbiofrock. Always nice seeing the man.
My trips included picking up 10 Years from a learjet at a private airstrip, talking w/several band managers, dropping Jared Leto and his band off at the Regal cinemas, and generally trying to ensure everyone got where they needed to be. The Jared Leto thing was sort of interesting...I hadn't expected to be dealing w/somone that's co-starred in some of my favorite movies ever (Fight Club, Requiem For A Dream, American Psycho)....so I was a caught a little off guard. We were on the way to the Regal when he asks, out of nowhere, about the tattoos on my wrists. I gave him the lowdown behind them and tossed him my portfolio of artwork. It was cool being able to show the band some of my work, however, they didnt seem to believe that I was actually having a show in New York later this year. People don't take kids from Ohio too seriously...and granted, after living here for 25 years, I wouldn't either. However, 20,000 people at a show isn't anything to scoff at....that and I can say that I've met some cool cats from this part of the country. It seems we really get a bad wrap due to the legions of duetschebag khaki sandal collared shirt wearing Hollister motherfuckers with their ho-bag platinum blonde tanned to a crisp plaster makeup prep whore cum-dumpster girlfriends.
Anyways, whatever.
All in all...it was cool to be an integral part of the weekend. Going back to my daytime job on Monday was such a shock to the system.....its like the color of life was lost and I was back in a world surrounded by grays, white, & mute tone colors. Everything always PC. Yuck.
Cool thing about work, though, is some of my art will be on display in the Atrium of our building. Its sort of nice being able to show people that I have a life outside of work....most of the time I'm just there doing my job. I don't really mix work and play too well. They just don't seem to jive....
Now...
Here's some pics to feast yer tender eyes upon.
