Some thoughts on the SG show in Cincy:
I feel like I'm a bonafide member now and last night was my initiation ritual. After driving 2 hours down to the show immediately after work, I arrived to hear that the show was sold out. I mean as soon as I walk up the steps to the venue they're saying no more tickets are to be sold. Period. Fuck. So I figured I'd hang around and ponder what to do next. Luckily there was a bar upstairs that I could linger around in while I decided what to do about my situation. I mean, I wasn't going to drive right back home after speeding down the highway the whole way to Newport. I decided it was in my best interest to have a beer or three and wait to see what happened. Things usually have a way of presenting themselves to me. And they did. During the course of my bar stay I got in good w/some of the locals and managed to find out how people were sneaking into the show. One wristband later I was a proud spectator enjoying the somewhat tuned-down version of the show I had seen before in Columbus. I should have stayed out in the bar and gone home w/the girl that was clinging onto me. But I had responsiblities in mind (I had to be at work today...and there was no possibility of calling off) and a simple determination to see the show I driven all the way out from Columbus to see. Of course, I realize now how much more fun I could have had not sneaking into the show, but also how jobless I would be at this point in time. There's no way in hell I would have been able to drive back in time for work had I been out all night doing what I know I shouldn't be doing. And I'm not dissapointed. I had a good time and the whole thing felt like a fucking adventure. I could have gone back to party with some of the cats after the show, but I decided on hanging around to sober up from my slight buzz. I wound up running into PunkNiteMike and bullshitting for a bit. It was cool, and I made it back to my homestead in time to get some Z's before work. Granted, I looked pretty haggard today at work, but I'm not the good looking to begin with. So thanks, SG, for throwing a little adventure into my Monday night and helping me make up for my shit V-Day experience.
