Sunday race, AFM Round 5 - Infineon Raceway.
Sunday rolled around and after sleeping a mere 5 hours, made my way to the track. Today will go by fast. One round of practice in the morning, and straight away to the first race. My races came down to Race 1, 5 and 11.
Started with 650 Twins. Gridded at the back, and not a horrible start, but watching the video, I need to just get in on the action. I kept saying to myself, throttle on, while watching the video. Next time for fucking sure. It was a blast and fucking excited to just get it done on Sunday. Completed the race and dropped 4 seconds off my lap times from Saturday. Not a bad start. Still needed 2 seconds to be at my best there.
Race 5 - Formula IV, was right after lunch, got the 1st call for it, and down into the hot pits to warm up. Feeling good, just want to grid and go. We completed our warm up lap, and I found my spot at the back of the field. No big deal, I'll just hunt down the guy in front and give chase.
Got it done and dropped another 2 seconds in lap times. A mere 1:56 (better than Stan's lap times, Mr. 2:04) hahaha suck it bitch. and that made for 2 of 3 races.
Race 11 was near the end of the day, and this would be the most exciting, as it's the Open Twins race. All the big bikes, liter bikes in this class. and me on the half-abusa keeping up and taking down the back markers. haha
We were the 1st wave in this race and right behind us was the open production guys (that's the Number 1 to 5 plate guys in that group) I think I was in Turn 5 when they started buzzing by us. Noticed that everytime they would buzz the guy in front of me, in my class, he would check up and I'd gain on him. So I kept the throttle pinned and just gained on them. Managed to catch 2 or 3 big bikes in the process and finished respectfully in my group.
A fucking awesome day, and a great way to finally finish a race weekend.
Next stop, Thunderhill Raceway, Sept 5 & 6 in Willows, Ca.
