My sound card works again. This is good because I think if I'd gone another day without it I would probably need a room with padded walls and an oversized white jacket. I'm still missing the cable that goes from the card to the breakout box, but I should be able to track one down in the next week or so. I can still listen to music, it's just slightly fuzzier than it will be once I find another cable.
Flickr is probably the most addictive site I've started frequenting since SG. I tried signing up for a paid account today but Paypal was down. I'll do it tomorrow. I tend to say that a lot.
I'm in Charlotte, which means I've been doing a lot of nothing. I've watched more TV in the past two nights than in the past two months. I've watched the last disc of the third season of MASH (my Christmas present to my dad), some Adult Swim, the Daily Show, and several episodes of the Sopranos. My roommates and I are all addicted to that show. I'm on the last episode of the first season, and I'll probably finish it tonight. The suspense is killing me. Seriously, this show is intense as hell; I usually can't stand TV shows, but it's made like a movie and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
I've reached a new level of comfort with my dad. Not that we were ever uncomfortable by any means, but on Sunday when I got in from Raleigh the first thing he said to me was "there's a cold beer for you in the fridge." My parents are pretty conservative and almost NEVER offer me alcohol unless it's a small glass of wine on a holiday or something, and that only started last year. We went fishing yesterday and talked about stuff that we'd never really discussed before. I've finally gotten to the age that I can talk to my dad as a peer, rather than an authority figure, which is awesome. Since I've never really been into sports, we've always done most of our male bonding while fishing. I even remember getting the "where you came from" lesson on the way back from the same pond we went to yesterday.
I've been in Charlotte for almost three days and have not yet been to the Penguin, Liberty East, or Steak 'n Shake. Wtf? I don't know if I'm getting sick or if there's something weird in the water here or what, but I've been slightly nauseous since Sunday night. I can't shake it tonight no matter what I do, so I'll probably go try an *herbal remedy* that hasn't failed me yet.
Back to Raleigh tomorrow, then the beach on Thursday!

There is no right way to end that sentence without a preposition, just like there's no right way to spell or pronounce "bourgeoise."
I don't find flickr as addictive as fotolog, still. It's just better.
The first thing this update made me think, though, was "Herbal remedy my ass, Stony McPothead."
see you within 24 hours, I hope.
