Ok, so I realize I have been back for a few days now, but I seriously have just been catching up on everything I put aside while I was gone, including sleep
For those of you who didn't know, my brother called me Thursday afternoon and asked me to meet him in Vegas. I had to be there by 12am the same day, so it was a scramble to get a flight there, that soon and at a decent price. Somehow, the odds were in my favor and I found a flight that got there at 9:35pm Vegas time and only cost $295 roundtrip! (I know, weird..something actually worked out for me).
I was expecting the plane to crash the whole way there and back, just because it didn't feel like I was supposed to be there or having that much fun...too good to be true so to speak. For people who really know me, the world is truly against me having fun and things going my way lol This time was an exception. and I am very grateful.
We went to Vegas for the National Supra Meet which happens twice a year, once in Vegas and another time months later in Texas somewhere. Anyways, I know most of you on this site could care less about cars and all that stuff, but it was a HUGE event for my brother's shop. They had probably 15% of the Supra's that showed up, built at their shop! A total of 73 MKIV (1993.5-1998) Supra's were in attendance, and another 200+ Supra's from 1984-1993. It was the largest gathering of Supra's to date. This event will be in magazines and a DVD will be made showcasing the whole thing..and I was there for it!
I finally got to meet the guy that runs the parts side of my brother's shop, and the main guy my brother works with, both super rad guys! Could not believe how cool these guys are. I didn't even know them (in person that is..I've communicated with both of them before) for a day and they were already paying for my meals, my hotel rooms and giving my brother and I rides to wherever we needed to go. For owning the 3rd most coveted Supra shop in the world..these guys really are down to earth and very friendly.
Chris, the guy that owns the parts side of the operation has a Supra that he built himself, without the help of my brother, his partner or any of the tuner's at the shop. This setup that he has right now is still being dialed in, but he ran a 10 flat in the 1/4 mile! The fastest Supra there was running a 9.18 at 156mph. Chris' setup is far more modest with a MUCH smaller turbo and not nearly as dialed in as this other guys. That was the only Supra faster than his at the entire event..and he has tons of room for improvement!
Anyways, I know you guys don't care about the car aspect of all of this, so I'll just say I got to meet some really cool people, friend's and co-worker's of my brother...top-notch people in the car industry, saw some rad cars ...actually learned a ton (for once)..AND got to spend a good 4 days with my brother, which was very much needed and overdue. I had a great time and so did he.
I might post the pictures I took with my cameraphone to my pics if anyone is interested..otherwise I'll save myself the money lol
On like the 2nd day we we're there, we were driving down Las Vegas Boulevard (The Strip) during rush hour traffic..literally bumper to bumper and going like 5 mph. We pulled up alongside this bus, and to our amazement, there was a kid (17-18 years old) Skitching on a longboard, drinking a 40! It was honestly the funniest thing I have ever seen
This kis was trashed out of his mind, hanging onto the back of a bus in rush hour traffic drinking a forty and goofing off with passerby's while the bus was stopped. It was the most asshole, punk rock thing I have ever seen. Only thing that ruined it was that he went to take another drink from the half gone 40 and almost puked. He set it down by a road cone and took off with the bus. I sure hope he wasn't that trashed off of half a 40
Still, something I will remember for the rest of my life! I swear it was something straight off of Jackass
