Up until Sunday I'd been feeling a bit down. Not for any any specific reason but work was dragging on and it felt like my life was back to where it had been a year ago before university. Lots of good things were and are happening obviously - moving up to London soon, one of my closest friends was down from Scotland, I even managed a couple of good nights out - however I couldn't seem to stop focusing on the boring parts. It just seemed as if everything was on hold.
Fortunately I had the perfect answer to this - football. I stayed in Saturday night, keeping the drink to a minimum (obviously the minimum isn't none, don't be silly) and focused on throwing everything into football training on Sunday morning. This meant missing not 1, but 2 brilliant parties but I knew I wouldn't be able to enjoy them to the full extent that they deserved and I knew what was needed.
Sunday came about and was indeed brilliant. It helped that we got our biggest turn out of the summer so far and that We got to treat the entire session almost as a match. For 2 hours I sweated, swore and shouted. It was fantastic. I had forgotten how good testing yourself like that could feel as sessions so far this summer hadn't been brilliant for me.
Since Sunday although nothing has really changed I've been able to worry less about the boring stuff, it will all soon be over anyway, and get back to thinking about the positives. Hopefully I haven't offended anyone too much whilst I've been moping. I will endeavour to stay in this positive state of mind from now on.
