New York is amazing. Everybody should realise this.
Brief details of what has been done so far.
Wednesday - arrived really late and went to bed.
Thursday - got up pretty late and sat around for a bit. Then we went to meet Kaikai's firend Lauren for dinner. Went to a nice burger place. Then we went on to the SGNY Christmas event at a bar with 80's arcade machines which was pretty cool. Disappointingly the beer isn't rubbish so I can't moan about it. By about 11 I'm beginning to realise how little I've slept in the last 2 days so we head off about 12. Everyone in SGNY seemed really nice though, I wish I had been a bit more awake so that I was more talkative. Sitting in the bar and cuddling wasn't so bad though.
Friday - it snowed in the morning so we sat in and ate cheery and cranberry pie baked deliciously by Kaikai. Then we headed out into the cold where I discovered that my lovely, trendy trainers do not protect your feet from a New York winter. An emergency stop was made at Union Square so I could get a pair of boots more suited to the elements. Then we went to a bar and had wings before heading to Max Brenner's for dinner with Lauren and some more of Kai's friends. I avoided having chocolate for my main course there but couldn't resist for dessert. Far too nice.
Saturday - Kai had to work so I headed up to the knitting store she works at for the morning. Then I headed off on my first solo NYC mission - to pick up gluten free cupcakes for Lauren from a shop in Chinatown. Mission successfully passed with out getting lost once. I feel like I can conquer this city now. Got back to the store and waited for Lauren to turn up. Then me and Lauren headed off to go shopping under the excuse that I needed some trousers but really to pick up presents for Kai. Then we headed back to the store where I sat in on my first knitting circle. Knitting circles appear to be just an excuse to drink and chat and get food. I could get the hang of them as long as no one expects me to knit.
Sunday - Kai headed of to work whilst I went back to Union Square to do more shopping away from her watchful gaze. After completing the Christmas shopping I headed up to the store again briefly before going out to Central Park which is right around the corner. Spent a couple of hours walking around being amazed by how pretty it was with the snow still being on the ground. There's some amazing views of downtown Manhattan with all the skyscrapers from there. I took loads of pictures but then my camera memory card corrupted so they will never be seen. Went and met Kai after who was feeling very sickly with the cold I imported. We headed back to Brooklyn to eat pizza and cuddle some more which is where I am now.
General notes- New Yorkers are lovely people. I've seen more snow in 3 days then I have in my life. Take a decent camera when you go somewhere like New York. Buying a present for your girlfriends Dad who you've never met isn't easy.
