blah. weekend blues.

so my date happened, and was alright. no sparks, but she's attractive and the conversation was good. i'm not really that interested in pursuing it though.

hmm. i might just need to meet girls in real-life. this e-dating thing gets tedious..

lizarose:
good to see you last night!

all i want to do is try.

hey! guess what? i have a date thursday!

jealous? i am. why cant *i* get a date?
oh. wait.

so what's going on in the 2006?
i dont really have any new resolutions. i think i made all of mine in november.

dang, i keep forgetting: i need to go to disneyland.
somebody remind me later.

c.

lizarose:

i'm coming home tomorrow. LA bound i am.
yeah, home is where the kittycats are, apparently.

what's everyone doing for NYE?
i caught a cold in canada, so sleeping may be on my agenda. if i miss yah, i wish you all plenty of smooching with someone you might want to make out with on NYE!
...or not. whichrver, really.

because baby, its all about...

For NYE I am going stag to my friend's place - a D.P. pal and his wife, an exec at Warner's who's also a good friend - for what should be a good time. They always throw a really nice shindig and I'm looking forward to catching up with them; we haven't hung out in too long.

If you feel better and decide you wanna do something and don't have other plans, let me know - you would be more than welcome. It'll be a lot of fun, cool people who are yes, in the business, but not OF the business 24/7 - and therefore, not irritating.

I do hope you get well soon. Cheers, bro. smile
lizarose:
all about me!?!?

oh, you're so sweet!

my nye was amazing. i can't even begin to explain it here...

are you well enough to come and see me at the office one night this week?

wink

i'm in canada.
its freezing cold.
i love it.

feel free to be jealous.

it was -40 today with windchill.
thats -40 in both farenheit and celsius to those not in the 'know'

in other words - exposed skin freezes really really fast.

anyone on here from winnipeg?

c.
lizarose:
ew. i am glad i am not there.

cold + me = you will all be as miserable as i feel

santa con came to cheetahs last night. it was a nightmare. i need therapy for sure after doing what santa tried to do to me in the v.i.p. room (the REAL one, not the room you've been in!). eeek eeek shocked

see you after the stupid holidays.

i miss you, believe it or not...

cineman:
Enjoy your winter wonderland, bro. I'll be spending my holiday at my pal's place in Marina Del Ray drinking champagne and laughing myself silly, I hope. My host -and every other guest besides me pretty much - is a professional standup comedian and / or comedy writer, and once those guys get liquored up it gets pretty savage, but in a good way.

Re: women, it's funny. When I make ZERO effort to put out any vibe and am my most relaxed, they swarm - again, in a good way. Based on some advances I tendered at parties last week alone, 2006 should be interesting in even more ways now - even without all these movies to make!

(My favorite line from King King? Jack Black's slimy creative telling a girl "You can trust me, I'm a movie producer!" Gotta use that, stat.)

Lemme know when you're back and we'll grab our own Fathers nosh and pints. Cheers!

GAH

that's all i have to say.
gah.

yeah, i have a crush. sucks. thought having a crush would be fun..but maybe i'm too old to have crushes. who knows.
i dont mean I'M too old to have crushes, but i'm to OLD to have crushed on folks like i do. gah.

can you believe it's so close to 'the-holiday-formerly-known-as-christmas?'

whacky. and yes, i did...

Aw. That's sweet. Lucky girl wink (I'm assuming it's a girl. lol)

You're never too old to crush on someone. If you're happy, what's the harm? (Esp. just coming out of a relationship...)

Thank you so much for your thoughtful, well-reasoned, and honest personal assessment of the film. Yes, I did - and always will - want the absolute, unvarnished version of feedback. I can take it, and it only helps to know what people REALLY think - whether they love it or hate it, or somewhere in between.

We could talk about it sometime but in brief, I'll just say that - again, for better or worse, depending on your perspective - pretty much everything you cited that, in places, made it a less (for lack of better terminology) comfortable or familiar viewing experience here and there was done completely intentionally. The camera operation at times wasn't 100% as I wished - which was the only serious casualty of the pace and budget of the production - but the CUs and ECUs were absolutely intended to force the eye and the viewer to have certain reactions, so your experience was along the lines of what I hoped for.

As for the ending: you're sort of on the wrong track about what happened, actually! It wasn't a passionate crime at all. Jessica and Jimmy were in cahoots the ENTIRE time, conspiring - in cold blood - against Dutch. This is foreshadowed and setup extensively from the beginning - the black and white shots to indicate Jessica's hidden camera, the subtle color shifts, image degradations and sound changes that accompany certain knowing looks between the two, the intentional misdirection re: who is in the bed with Jimmy in the beginning, the line about "I've always been in love with Jessica" while he's holding those panties that we learn belong to someone else, and most importantly: the denouement of the nightclub redux that allows you to finally hear what was being said. Remember Jimmy and Jessica's last lines? Jimmy: "I have been (in a romantic relationship)" met with Jessica's "I know you have, sweetie, and you WILL be again. I'm CONFIDENT of this fact." Why is she so confident, and why do they share yet another look as she says that? Because they are in one together at that very moment in time.

And oh, SHE is, of course, truly behind it all, manipulating Jimmy to do her will while letting him think that he's in charge. It's a triple reversal. Nice, huh?

Okay, so I guess I said everything here after all! Heh heh. Hey, thanks again for your thoughts. I do appreciate it, bro.

well its nice that you did

i took thanksgiving off, even though i already took my thanksgiving off back in september.

...tonight i dwell in my home and send apologies out to all those who invited me somewhere. thanks!..but, i really like the idea of having a few days to myself....its been rare, and it feels sooooo good [if overly self-indulgent]

'scuse me while i go find a good book.

c.
lizarose:
that's okay--i get it.

we had a nice time anyway. biggrin

see you when you come out of your cocoon.

so how long before i can date again?

..and no, im not saying i am interested in dating right now. that would be a disaster, plus i dont want to.

i think a ratio of 1:6 is pretty safe. say, 24 months of dating - go on hiatus for 4 months. 2 weeks of dating, take a 2 day breather.

just curious.

c.
lizarose:
hey punk.

are you coming over for thanksgiving?

sgla party at my house...
lizarose:
mail call.

also: come see me at work tonight?

i am afraid it's going to be a bad night since the holidays and all...

today i went to an auction for video games.
then i went to gencon and realised there is a far greater subculture of geek than i had ever imagined - including the incredibly elusive ultra-cute nerdy girl.

there is something about girls dressed like princess leia, final fantasy heroines or vampires that i like. [sigh]

hope my now-ex-gf is doing alright. she's in newyork.

Aw. I was there on Saturday as well. Dealer's room this year was way smaller. Too bad I didn't see you. I might have let you buy me a drink. wink

Did you go?

It was so good.

I think I am going to go again tonight just for fun.

aaaargh. what a night.

so there it is. my girl and i had a long chat, and i basically told her i felt like i had fallen out of love.
it's sad.

we talked for a while - she's really angry and upset, and i feel terrible. i love her still, but i dont think its quite in the same way. i want to be...

honey i think you did the right thing. you know exactly how you feel about her. it is obvious that you have spent a lot of time sorting out those feelings. it isn't fair to her to continue like you were.

you spoke your truth. i am proud of you.

let go of your fear and let the relationship change. it will be something better than it was.
