Last I left you, I was in South Dakota.
Radeo and I left Indiana with the end goal being Portland, and I can't even begin to list adjectives in this blog that can accurately describe how incredible that trip really was. It's one of those things you have to experience in order to truly appreciate how beautiful it is. I've never been to those areas of the US before, and I can safely say I can see myself growing old and gray in a remote area of that part of the country surrounded by mountains and evergreens and woodland creatures.
This blog also has many accompanying videos on Vine! Follow Radeo (Ohnoradeo) and I (Frolic Ahoy) and you can go back and see all the roadtrip epicness.
Here's our route:
Our plan was to drive to Wisconsin and shoot with a photographer there, and on our way stop at Wisconsin Dells. It's a huge vacation spot I had never heard of littered with touristy awesomeness and waterparks.
We ended up doing this thing called Wizard Quest. I didn't have service inside and it was timed so I didn't take many photos, but it was by far one of the funnest things I've ever done. if you're ever in Wisconsin Dells, go there!
My prize and roadtrip guardian, Wisdell.
We stayed with Rachelle and her man in Au Claire (who Damsel hooked us up with!) and she was so, so sweet and welcoming and I wish we would have had more time to hang out with her.
But alas, in the morning we were on our way to Minnesota and the Mall of America!
We literally bee-lined right to the amusement park just to ride roller coasters. Fuck shopping, we can do that anywhere, right?
That night we were staying with another friend Damsel hooked us up with, but they weren't home by the time we got to Minneapolis, so Radeo and I decided to kill some time at Lake Calhoun.
It was windy as fuck and the water was freezing, but everything was so pretty and it was still packed with people.
Our gracious hosts treated us to a fun night out on the town in Minneapolis (which I have no photos of) but they were some of the greatest people, Radeo and I feel really lucky to have met them.
We woke up early the next morning and began our drive to Mount Rushmore! All the people we talked to said we should skip it because it's not that great, but we were determined to go see it. National Monuments are little moments in history, and that's pretty fucking cool.
Of course, I had to pretend to be a ninja at Mt. Rushmore.
And let's not forget about twerking!
(look up the #twerkinacrossthecountry tag on Vine for more twerking goodness )
Which then brought us to the Needles Highway en route to Custer State Park in South Dakota. By far, one of the prettiest drives I've ever done.
Our next destination is one that I will never EVER forget. Seriously, ever. We drove through Wyoming to get to Yellowstone National Park, and dear god is that a gorgeous state. I couldn't believe a state so pretty even existed.
Radeo and I were seriously so blown away we ended up getting a hotel and going back to Yellowstone for another day to see more of it. We saw so many wild animals like bison (which are seriously majestic in the wild) and my spirit animal, the fox! A FOX! IN REAL LIFE IN THE WILD! Yellowstone was seriously so magical, I teared up a few times because I was so overwhelmed with how incredible everything there is. I took a bunch of little videos while I was there that I plan on turning into a little mini tour of everything we saw. At some point.
Then it was driving through Montana, Idaho, Wahsington, and finally Oregon.
Once I got to Portland, it was pretty much just chillin, eatin, and shootin. I finally got the opportunity to work with DarrylDarko and he was super awesome and easy to work with.
DarrylDarko is currently stationed in Portland, so girls in that area (or willing to travel) should definitely get at him for shoots and sets! He's one of my favorite photographers I've worked with thus far >> darryldarko@gmail.com
I also had the chance to work with film wizard Rich Burroughs.
The whole road trip was so amazing, but I was missing my fur babes (and my boy babe) back home in Columbus. My boyfriend picked me up from the airport and told me I wasn't allowed to go inside when we got home. When I was finally let in, this was waiting for me.
A weasel baby! His name is Basil
Since I've been back, it's been pretty much just relaxing, zoo trips, an SG party, water parks, and hangs.
By the way, Alissa and I shot a little something special that will be heading this way soon. May the odds be ever in your favor
I also recently opened up an Etsy store with a few prints up for sale. A couple are from DarrylDarko and the rest are by Alissa. I'm trying to take some more trips this summer, so any sales would be greatly appreciated! I'll sign them and write little notes on them too, if that's something you want added
Can't go wrong with some butt on your wall!
If there is an image you like that I don't offer as a print, message me and we can work something out, capisce?
