nothing new otherwise.... life is good biggrin
girlblue:
It's actually a mirror print of toulouse-lautrec's moulin rouge. tacky and artsy fartsy in one! biggrin

well, i don't know where my iphoto program is failing me. for some reason i just can't get the pics right.
i've pretty much had two weeks off here, and i hate to say it but i'm bored!
not ready to let everyone know that though, or they'll put me right to work!
guess i'll go to the library to get more cd's to burn.
girlblue:
She's just starting culinary school smile

bought the () sigur ros cd tonight. very nice wine replacement since i am beverageless.
my fingertips are burned from pulling sugar all day and kinda' numb.. and i love it! sugar sculpture of a grapevine is in the works. i will post pics of the competitions tomorrow if i actually get batteries for my camera.
girlblue:
I will send you a copy of Agaetis Byrjun if you want...I like the newer one a lot but for me it didn't have quite the impact listening to it the first time that Agaetis Byrjun had. Too bad you don't have wine, I think Sigur Ros is best listened to with at least a slight buzz of *some* sort. wink

Oh. I was also extremely drunk to the point of being blacked out for most of my evening after I got home Thurs. I remember that I enjoyed talking to you and that I liked your voice but I can't really remember anything we talked about. frown I know it had to be bad because I hardly ever get hangovers no matter how much I drink and I had a severely wicked one that didn't go away until Friday evening. Does my voice sound southern to you?
girlblue:
p.s. You have me sooooo busted with your less-than-cryptic post on noncom's journal. He's gonna get a chance to go back and read it as soon as he gets back, but I guess I deserve any wrath that comes my way. I just couldn't help myself! That pic was begging for it biggrin

i was struck by a drunken whim, and removed myself for a time!

How about a life-sized, tallow sculpture of Hillary Rodham Clinton with an axe in her head? smile

well, i got a gold today for my platter of petit fours, marzipan pumpkins, truffles and a cake with a chocolate sculpture of an eagle.
but what a political mess, and a bunch of whiny little babies!!! i can't believe these people were grown ups let alone soldiers!!
maybe the words army and culinary go together in much the same way as army and intelligence....

well, it's like 0430 and i just got off work. very tired and very wired. almost done with the only fun cooking i'll probably do in the army this year (and next)- since culinary competitions are off if we go to iraq.
but oh god, i have had a blast. it's like the old culinary school days, no budget and too many ideas for the...

Were you at the world Military Culinary challenge by any chance? I heard you guys scored a very strong 2nd, out of the whole word. Congrats!!
What does 'gator taste like, anyways? Don't tell me chicken...
slightpressureok:
Yeah, the "dusty agents" are a problem. Think about how the air moves in and out from under your hood while in MOPP 4... dusty VX or dusty mustard will get sucked up under the hood and land on your neck and scalp. The VX is the real threat, IMHO.

It all supports the argument for stopping Iraq from supplying these weapons to terrorists. Imagine what a shoebox full of this stuff would do in a shopping mall at Christmas.

i am sooo nicely drunk right now. i mean nice.
taking my time till the inevitable peaceful sleep.
and i mean peaceful.
i love this world, and i am hugging it like a drunk as it stiffens up and says "yeah yeah, man i love you too" -unconvincingly!
don't be so uptight
world!
goodnight.

wow, this culinary competition thing is great. no pt, no "sergeants time" (not worth an explaination if you don't know what this is trust me) and no work even until 7pm! from then to two i listen to my music alone in the dining facility and make food display's that are really pretty cool.
i love this job sometimes!

i also think that counter culture is a political phenomenon.

the gov of that period was particularly concerned with keeping things "status quo"

the DIY spirit was definately not status quo. but i am willing to let our discussion sit at that, as long as you admit that what i said was not the silliest thing you had ever seen on the boards...
