hello!
girlblue:
hi there. i miss your old profile pic. good luck with the wedding. smile
hulasboy:
i hope your kraft singles did the trick.

we had:

petite basque (french)
tomme de savoir (french)
triple cream brie (french)
cabrales (spanish)
buttermilk blue (vermont)
a very sharp cheddar (vermont)
fulvi castelrosso (italy) {highly recomend, very complex}
cambezola (france)

and you would have shit a pumpkin at the amount of foie gras the rest of the folks consumed. they also had roast duck.

hope you had a good holiday. take care.

oh, how boring. everyone else is on leave, and i think i am the only person in the barracks tonight. going to have christmas dinner with my fiance's host family (a pair of majors) who also want to quiz me about our impending marriage. that sounds like fun!
it's kinda like meeting the parents. puke but nice of them to invite me...

Pay your bill nugget. Happy Holidays.
girlblue:
so how was it? when are you getting married?

so i was sitting around at home today (no work) and i realized i have the keys to the culinary arts dining facility and to the freezers!
my friend and i went down there and spent the afternoon cooking a duck with leeks in anchorsteams new holiday brew, with a stuffing made of sourdough, shallots, butter, and garlic. topped with a sauce made of the...

Whoa man, that's beats the hell out of the ramen and tuna that I eat.
girlblue:
I was wondering when you would get around to posting that pic. puke smile

ok, i saw it again tonight and i take it all back.
the two towers was a great movie. maybe even better than fellowship in some ways.
i think i just needed to see it once to find out what i was gonna be in for, and mull it over for a day before i could really watch it.
the changes are a necesary evil....

I just got back from seeing it. I thought it was fucking great. There were a lot of changes from the book, but I think that more than a few of them made a better movie. I just have one teeny, tiny, complaint.

How many times must we have a scene in slow motion with some one shouting NOOOOOOOOOO....... in the same movie? Otherwise, bitchin' flick.

blah blah blah.
what's there to say really? saw two towers and was dissapointed with a few choices in the story.

i might be a while getting over this.

I kinda felt that way about the first one, but really I think that these are the best the movies could be. Tolkein's work is so original and complex that no one will ever be able to capture what it is like to truely get into his work on film, even if you had a 20 hour miniseries. Tolkein was a poet and word smith. He was a linguist. His stuff just wouldn't work if you translated it verbatum to film. The magic of his voice still wouldn't be there. Just enjoy the film for what it is...an adaptation of a great story.

BTW is the competition over yet?
hulasboy:
when did you change your name?

this is not mine, but i will be taking it to the competition in february, to bring a buddy back his gold.. (he's getting out...)
it's a well made of salt dough (technically edible- but not tasty) complete with blue water and a little light to shine up from the bottom.
our theme is hope...
froggy:
too bad, this space doesn't allow much in the way of showing his detail... much cooler than it looks
olivia:
it's ok! i think you're a knucklehead too wink

chocolate sauce recipe:

Ingredients
3 tablespoons good quality cocoa (droste is good)
6 tablespoons sugar (maple sugar is good)
3 - 6 tablespoons soy milk

Method
Dump cocoa and sugar into a small pot and mix until together until there are no lumps.

Pour in a little soymilk, and mix together into a runnyish paste.

Heat on low - medium, stirring constantly, for around 4 minutes or until the sugar dissolves and the sauce is hot.

Pour over soy or rice ice cream and revel in being completely evil.

ok, now this one is in progress, and just a practice for what i'll do for the fort lee competition.
sugar scultpure of a grape vine and a botanically incorrect rose "vine" wrapped around it. i think it will have a bird on it too when i figure out how to "blow" sugar consistantly.
tastes like cotton candy.

Mahvelous, dahlink. You're welcome!
slightpressureok:
Hey! How come I never see these on the dessert line? It's always apple cobbler or peanut butter cookies! frown

Seriously, it's beautiful. Did you make a mold first? What did you use for your original? Now *I* want to go to CIA or Johnson & Wales!

oh well, let's see. new pic's on the way thanks to girlblue.
nothing new otherwise.... life is good biggrin
girlblue:
It's actually a mirror print of toulouse-lautrec's moulin rouge. tacky and artsy fartsy in one! biggrin

well, i don't know where my iphoto program is failing me. for some reason i just can't get the pics right.
i've pretty much had two weeks off here, and i hate to say it but i'm bored!
not ready to let everyone know that though, or they'll put me right to work!
guess i'll go to the library to get more cd's to burn.
girlblue:
She's just starting culinary school smile

bought the () sigur ros cd tonight. very nice wine replacement since i am beverageless.
my fingertips are burned from pulling sugar all day and kinda' numb.. and i love it! sugar sculpture of a grapevine is in the works. i will post pics of the competitions tomorrow if i actually get batteries for my camera.
girlblue:
I will send you a copy of Agaetis Byrjun if you want...I like the newer one a lot but for me it didn't have quite the impact listening to it the first time that Agaetis Byrjun had. Too bad you don't have wine, I think Sigur Ros is best listened to with at least a slight buzz of *some* sort. wink

Oh. I was also extremely drunk to the point of being blacked out for most of my evening after I got home Thurs. I remember that I enjoyed talking to you and that I liked your voice but I can't really remember anything we talked about. frown I know it had to be bad because I hardly ever get hangovers no matter how much I drink and I had a severely wicked one that didn't go away until Friday evening. Does my voice sound southern to you?
girlblue:
p.s. You have me sooooo busted with your less-than-cryptic post on noncom's journal. He's gonna get a chance to go back and read it as soon as he gets back, but I guess I deserve any wrath that comes my way. I just couldn't help myself! That pic was begging for it biggrin
