I know not everyone can get down with the ambient shit. As a kid who grew up on metal I always thought everything that wasn't metal was strummy bullshit beneath my contempt. But then I read a book about Brian Eno, and all that changed. I think you can't be a good musician if you limit yourself to listening to one style, and I think the ability of ambient music to evoke mood and imagery by relying on dead simple technique, melody and nuanced repetition of themes and shapes is something a lot of musicians could benefit from. Anyway, here's one of the coolest songs I've heard in a long time.
