I don't think it's a gender bias, but a societal bias. The moral majority see tattoos and piercings as unprofessional. I know the company i work for has a no visible tattoos policy, and I have to remove everything but my earrings for work. I agree with you, if someone got to know you as you are now, it's unfair to expect you to be a different person.

You're absolutely right and furthermore you are right to shout it out. A person who loves and respects you loves and respects who you are, not how you look (or for that matter how you speak or what you have to say). There is a double standard even today, though that standard has gradually eroded over time. You'd like to think that at some point a person's gender or race or creed (yeah, even Muslims, people) or how one chooses to express him OR HER self would simply be accepted, but we're not there yet. Glaciers move slowly, but they do move (or melt). I'm on your side.
