My hood is a warzone. Two nights ago there was a massive shootout (I slept through it drunk) around 8:30 - 9:00 PM. It started a block down the street roughly under my bedroom window, proceeded to my front door step, and then down the street about another block. This event happened right in the middle of a Memorial Day block party. Families running and ducking for cover. Children screaming. The whole works. The sidewalk and street is littered with the cute little chalk outlines and arrows indicating bullet shells. My roommate had a hell of the time getting into the apartment. He asked the cops what happened and they said nothing. Asked if someone was shot. They said no. Proceeded to ask if there was anything to worry about and would you guess they said nope. I love cops. They are just so on point with there job. Completely out there trying to maintain our safety. Concerned with their paychecks and pension...er..um..I mean doing a valuable service to the community.
I was out standing on the corner last night talking with a friendly neighbor and one of the young bulls about the whole deal while police cars drove around the block every 3 minutes. So many cops driving in circles and my friend was still able to buy weed from the young bull. Very alert cops I tell you.
Tonight I'm writing some tracks and off go a few more bursts. Sirens and squealing tires go off for the next 20 minutes. I deciede to go walk around and get a feel for everything going on. I run into my roomie who informs me that he had a hard time getting out of the apartment. Apparently the street was crowded with the cops again as they were stripping through a car. They found some guns in the trunk. It is roughly 11 PM and there are still sirens every 30 minutes or so. Ah, home sweet home...Now when was I moving. Oh yeah, ASAP!
Who wants to camp out on my front stoop with a case of beer. We can wear garbage cans as bulletproof vests. I have some milk crates we can use as chairs. I'm sure it will be safe and loads of fun.
Hit one of the local bars with the roomie. Lots of chumps in there with khaki shorts and polo shirts. Fun to stare at their girls at least. Always joy to watch them get uptight and make that constipated angry man face.
Went for my motorcycle yesterday. My credit is good but I didn't have enough so I'm going back tomorrow to pay for half in cash and the rest is financed. Ordered the helmet and I will pick up all of the security nonsense tomorrow when I pay for the bike. I should have the entire thing situated by the weekend. I can't wait any longer. This is the one last thing that I need to get secured and then I put in for my job transfer.
