3. One of your comfort movies/series that you have seen more than 3 times.

I could have chosen quite a few movies or tv series to answer this question, and all would have been just as valid to me. I decided to go with a tv series, because they tend to last a long time to get through, so they feel more present in your life for the time being. Series like "Modern Family," "M.A.S.H.," "Two and a Half Men," "Big Bang Theory," "Brooklyn 99," "Columbo," and "Firefly" could have been the subject of this Gauntlet entry and I would have been just as passionate about them.

"Scrubs" was my final choice for several reasons. Off screen, the whole set was pretty much all within the abandoned hospital. Their hallways were actual medical hallways, their patient rooms were once actual patient rooms. They had the staff dressing rooms all in the hospital, the props room, the accounting, etc. Even the apartments and homes were built within the hospital. That impresses me.

They had a 'no assholes' on set policy, meaning if you were any part of the crew, from actor to writer to boom mic operator, and you were an asshole, you were fired. They wanted an entire team who were friends, or at least got along while they worked. And you can feel it when you watch the show. Genuine friendships, relationships, and joy fill the scenes. Zach Braff and Donald Faison are besties in real life and own a pizza restaurant together. Creator/Producer/Writer/Director/Actor Bill Lawrence (known for being part of shows like "Shrinking," "Ted Lasso," "Clone High," "Cougar Town," "Spin City," and "Friends") married Christa Miller.

They had people on the crew that were just there to look after all the staff's dogs. I mean, come on! That's awesome.
-
So many famous people wanted to be part of the show, often sending script ideas in. To which Bill Lawrence would agree to their idea if they came in to play the part. This list is impressive, if incomplete: Heather Graham, Elizabeth Banks, Dick Van Dyke, Amy Smart, Courtney Cox, Scott Foley, Michael J. Fox, John freakin' Ritter, Mandy Moore, Aziz Ansari, Dave Foley, Tara Reid, Brendan Fraser (incredible arc!), Ryan Reynolds, Matthew Perry, Colin Farrel, Keri Russell, Tom Cavanagh, Heather Locklear, Hattie Winston, Jimmie Walker, Markie Post, Kate Micucci, Richard Kind, Ricky Schroder, Phill Lewis, Nicole Sullivan (one of my favourite comedians), Michael McDonald, and Jason Bateman.
-
Comedian and actor Neil Flynn was only supposed to have a bit role, but his presence and improvisation stole the show, and he became a regular, often making up his lines on the spot, which they kept in the show.

On screen, it was a quirky and zany show, filled with off-the-wall imaginings and flashbacks, along side very real medical situations. In fact, it was often referred to as the most medically accurate show on tv. It would make you laugh, shake your head, and a few episodes even made you cry. The ending of the first 8 seasons still makes me bawl. Right @pastrypeach ?

Because Zach Braff wanted to carry on a career in film, the show had to change for season 9, and it became a different beast that most people did not enjoy, which got it finally cancelled. But, it seems like the beast has been reborn, because it looks like they are bringing back most of the original crew for a Season 10, and I am elated.

To top it all off, what I consider one of the most brilliant pop-culture references/jokes of all time is in Season 7, episode 7. It is also an amazing episode in the canon, too:

So yeah. That's my 3rd entry in my own Gauntlet. I know I'm running out of time to finish according to my own deadline, but I'll make it. Just might be a few crammed together. Lol. If you want to see my other two, they are:
Topic 7 - Favourite simple meal
Topic 1 - One of your favourite songs

Thanks for reading to the end and I hope you enjoyed this. I am loving all the other entries I've seen you folks doing. It brings a smile to my face.
