It's no secret that I am not really a fan of surveys/questionnaires and tend to avoid them when I can. But, I have also come to realize that they are a fun and integral part of the community here on SG. So, in order to try to flip that switch in me to learn to like them, I have decided to create my own questionnaire series from scratch, following similar things I have seen done by @weedfarmer and a few other models (@zarawolf, @amoxi, etc.).
I'm going to focus on geek and nerd culture, populating only 10 questions each time, because I feel they may involve more time or energy to respond to. I'll try to always put a blank one at the end of the complete one, and I certainly take no offense if you choose not to answer part or any of them. I understand. Hopefully, I can make the questions different enough that you enjoy this. As a bonus, these are questions I usually ask friends to start bigger conversations about the things we love. Let's get started!
Lord of the Nerds - Questionnaire #1
-
1. Favorite fictional villainess? Tell us about her.
I originally want to answer "Xenia Onatopp," because she's a villainess who gets off when she crushes people to death between her legs and was portrayed by Famke Janssen. I mean...
Hot!
Truthfully, though. I think the evilest female that sticks with me is Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates) from Misery. She stays with a fella, let me tell you. Mentally unbalanced, strong willpower and passion, questionable moral compass, clever, and strong, she terrorized Paul Sheldon (James Caan).

2. What food/drink do you prefer for movie night at the theatre? Do you share?
The once or twice a year I go to the theatre, I like popcorn (with layered butter and white cheddar salt) and a soft drink. (pop if you are @warrior311 lol). Usually Pepsi, Coke, or Dr. Pepper. Sometimes I will get these candies called "Swedish Berries," (this is a call out to you @mzrizstretto) or "Fuzzy Peaches." I think they may only be available in Canada. As much as I love chocolate, I rarely get them at the theatre.

3. Favorite fight (of any type) in any cinematic (not animated) Star Wars movie or series?
This one is tough, because I really like some of the fights in Star Wars, but I think my favorite is the one between Obi-Wan and Vader at the end of season 1 of the "Obi-Wan Kenobi" series. Besides being wonderfully choreographed, it had a lot of emotional impact.

4. What song were you addicted to as a kid?
When I was little, I was obsessed with one song so much that I wore out 2 tapes listening to it. It was "Sunglasses at Night" by Canadian musician Corey Hart.
-
5. Favorite hand-held weapon/item in a First Person Shooter (FPS) type of game? Why?
While there is a special place in my heart for the "Rock-it Launcher" from Fallout (come on, shooting a stack of random garbage at someone? Death by Teddy Bear? Lol), as well as various humorous weapons from Borderlands, my favorite will forever be the BFG9000 from Doom. A giant slow plasma ball of terror.

6. Where do you enjoy reading (coffee shop, bed, kitchen table, etc.)?
I really have no preferred place to read, so long as I can shift positions and posture. It normally rules out restaurants or coffee shops. At home. I'll read a book in 4 hours or so, so I tend to move from couch to kitchen table to tub to bed to floor to wherever else. I power read and I don't get distracted by much once I'm immersed in a good story. It can still make my poor old body hurt, though.

7. Board game that you always play when gathered with your friends/family. Describe it?
This question was inspired by a @tastyzombie gaming post. The one game I got almost all of my friends and family to play is a fairly huge game called "Legendary." It started out set in the Marvel universe with just a basic game. They've released a large amount of expansions, and now they've built separate games in different universes like X-Files, Alien/Predator, Buffy/Angel, Big Trouble in Little China. It is essentially a team vs board deck-building game. It has a ton of different variations on stories and goals and characters, and we have never played the same game twice. We win around 1/3 of the time, and lose around 2/3 of the time. Fighting against Carnage is the worst. Haha. It just sucks that someone stole all my games of it when I got robbed a few years back and I can't bring myself to start collecting it again. I was well over $1500 in to the whole thing.

8. Saddest moment in an anime.
There are quite a few, but something about the cat scene in "Your Lie in April" just crushed my heart and made me cry. If you've seen it, you know what I mean.
-
9. Your favorite Mortal Kombat Character and why?
Ermac. He was created because of fan mythology. It was incorrectly said that by overplaying the Sega Genesis version of Mortal Kombat with Scorpion, the screen would eventually flaw and flash an alert message on the screen. The message read "ERror MACro" and it would turn Scorpion's yellow outfit red. So, being who they are, the MK team developed a whole character and backstory to a red-palette swapped ninja and the character was born.

10. A scene in a horror movie that made you laugh.
I know it sounds morbid, and I promise that I am not unbalanced, but there is a scene in Jason X that cracks me up every time. He's trapped in a simulation and encounters 2 nubile camp goers interested in debauchery. He tries to beat them to death, using one in a sleeping bag against the other in a sleeping bag, as a callback to an early installment in the franchise. But, it's a simulation and they won't die. It's more like pillows smacking into each other and his frustration comes across quite well. I won't share a picture of it, because it doesn't translate well outside of the movie.
