Do you have a favorite Holiday Movie you recommend?
-
Oh goodness. You don't know the can of worms that gets opened when I am asked about movies. I shall do my very best to restrain myself. In order to do so, I will limit myself to my top 10 Christmas movies, in ascending order. That's the best I can do. Take it or leave it. :)
I promise to do brief descriptions and only put one picture in of each... I'm showing mercy. Lol.

#10 - Home Alone
Who doesn't love the idea of a kid being forgotten by his family and targeted by scummy adults, causing him to create violent over-reactions instead of going down the street and calling family or police? Sounds like my kind of Christmas!
-
#9 - The Family Man
Learning to forgo money and success and independence in order to find a happy family life seems contrary to the retail commercial holiday message, and that's why this movie works.
-
#8 - Scrooged
"Have you tried staples?" 'nuff said.
-
#7 - Nightmare Before Christmas
Yeah, I'm not getting into any debates on "That's not a Christmas movie!" If I consider it a Christmas movie, then it is a Christmas movie to me. This one showcases Tim Burton's talent that he heavily borrowed from "The Cabinet of Dr. Calgari," but it is beautiful, creepy, and wonderful in it's own right.
-
#6 - Gremlins
I saw this movie as a little kid in a run-down old movie theatre near our cabin in Waterton Lakes National Park, my mom had to take me out early, and it is the only movie that ever gave me nightmares. That sounds like Christmas to me!
-
#5 - Muppets Christmas Carol
I also saw this movie in the theatre and when Beaker gave Scrooge the finger, I was sold! Plus, Michael Caine did a phenomenal acting job, treating the Muppets like fellow thespians.
-
#4 - Die Hard
Yep.
-
#3 - Trading Places
Nothing says "Merry Ho Ho" like destroying people's lives for a dollar. It's got wry wit and a fun idea and is just gritty enough to make it hit home.
-
#2 - Love Actually
What does love mean to you? This movie explores all sorts of love and it is beautiful, fun, funny, sad, and thoughtful. I don't care who you are, you need to watch this movie. You'll find something in it that you love, actually.

#1 - The Long Kiss Goodnight
Again, I say it is a Christmas movie. It's one of my favorite movies of all time. Female action lead, hilarious quotes, great pace, and just a good vehicle for some great actors. I highly recommend it!

Thanks for reading through. I hope you found movies you love on this list and some new ones to try out. Happy Holidays my friend!
