What album should everyone listen to at least once?
-
I could go on for a long time about albums that everyone should listen to at least once (or several times) and the history and value of each. Eventually, I chose Live's "Throwing Copper," because it is such an amazing album, and also because I have purchased it 4 times in my life (so far). The first time, I wore it out. The second time, it broke it in half when I tried to remove it from a case. The third time, it was stolen.

Formed in 1984, Live has produced 11 albums, depending on how you define "album." Their brave choice to leave Pennsylvania and their comfort to chase their dreams resulted in some fantastic success and music for them. I personally think it was a wise decision, considering how much they have permeated my life and joy.

While I love most of their work, and their album "V" most of all, "Throwing Copper," their 3rd album, is what really launched them into stardom and has some of their most memorable tunes. I'm sure most of you have heard their breakout hit, "Lightning Crashes."

"Throwing Copper" has sold over 8 million copies in the US alone, and has 2 songs that hit number one on US Modern Rock hits. "Lightning Crashes" and "Selling the Drama."

There isn't a song on the entire album that I dislike or find lesser than the rest. They also released "All Over You." (I had to include the live acoustic version here)

And one of my personal favourites, "I Alone."

I highly encourage you to listen to their whole album, because some of their unreleased tracks are truly memorable. "The Dam at Otter Creek," "Iris," "Waitress" and my go-to tune "T.B.D."

To my friends and future friends, I hope you love this album and discover a new passion with the band Live. What songs of theirs do you like? What album do you think everyone should listen to at least once?
