Calling on your inner writer/creator! Also, trigger warning: Zombie story and all that that entails.

This is the first branch from the main story of "AFTER THE FLESH - PITH." You will be able to recognize them because the picture won't be the orange sky/ yellow sun on from the main story, and it will say "Limbs" instead of "Pith." My goal is to occasionally introduce and follow characters that appear in parts of the main story line, to expand the universe and give new dilemmas to make decisions on. I'm even open to other folks who may want to take some characters and expand on them in universe. DM me if you would like to.
-
In this particular installment, it starts where the main story starts. You may even come to recognize some of the characters I have introduced here as folks from SG. I promise it is just for play and as an expression of love to want to include them within my story (like a certain Austrian Security Guard in a hot air balloon), and nothing more.

I really hope people enjoy this, because it does take me a bit of time and energy to craft these. Let's start... again.

After the Flesh - Limbs - T&A - 001
-
It all started when your boyfriend, Trevor, received a call that his cousin Eve had died at home the day before. Although you had only met her once in the 2 years that you’d been dating him, he acted like he had lost his best friend. I mean, you could understand the pain of losing someone, but he had never talked about her or seemed like she was part of his life at all. After the phone call, though, he played up his misery and used her passing as an excuse to not do anything he didn’t want to do. Leaving you to do the housework, the maintenance of your day-to-day, while still going to work. He called in to work more times than he went in. You wouldn’t have had a problem looking after everything while he was in grief, except for the fact that you were preparing to break it off with him just before it all happened.
-
Now you are attending Eve’s funeral with Trevor, doing your duty as a good girlfriend and as a decent human being. You stand beside him as he introduces you to Eve’s husband, Roger, and they exchange remorse. Trevor breaks down crying and professes how much Eve meant to him. It’s all you can do to not mock him for his overblown drama, but you express your regrets to Roger and follow Trevor as he aims towards the chairs right next to where the priest is standing.
-
As you walk along, Trevor stops at a couple and says “Russell! Small world. Did you know Eve?” You look down at the couple. There is a thin, Tattooed man and a beautiful, young, tattooed woman beside him. You are immediately entranced with her appearance. You are only half listening to the conversation.
-
Russell looks up and smiles. “Trevor! How are you, man? Yeah, I knew Eve and Roger through my work. How did you know her?”
-
Trevor replies, “Eve was my cousin, and she was an angel.” (“Oh, come on!” you think to yourself.) Trevor puts his hand to your lower back and pulls you forward. “This is my girlfriend, Tasha.”
-
Russell stands up quickly and grabs you into an uncomfortable hug. “I’m sorry for your loss, Tasha.” He holds his hug a bit too long, and then you hear the lady beside him clear her throat. The tattooed lady had stood up, too, and she pushes Russell aside and you get the chance to look directly into her beautiful dark eyes. She says, “Hello dear Tasha. I’m Alice, I’m Russell’s girlfriend.” Then she gives you a warm and comforting hug, before pulling back and adding, “You are gorgeous.” Her cheeks flush a little and she gives you a bright smile.
-
Suddenly incredibly shy and nervous, you reply in a tone more controlled than you feel, “Thank you Alice. I could look into your eyes forever.” You smile back, hoping you look even half as stunning as she does.
-
Father Steed picks that exact moment to ask everyone to be seated so he can start the service. You wistfully look at Alice one last time as her and Russell sit back down, and Trevor drags you to the last chairs on the front row. He gives you the chair at the end and you both sit down.
-
The service goes normal enough, with some kind words, some religious passages, lots of crying and sniffles. Trevor is incredibly bad for sniffing on a normal day, but he downright annoying today with them. You want to stuff his nose with tissues just to shut him up. Somehow, you get through the service.
-
As Father Steed finishes his last prayer with “Let us go in the peace of the Lord,” it starts to rain. You realize that you had forgotten to bring an umbrella as you begin to get soaked. The coffin begins to get lowered, when it starts to shake and you can hear a voice inside saying “Roger, please help me.”
-
Father Steed’s face contorts in rage and goes red as he rushes over and hefts the lid open. The grinning dead face of Eve appears within, and she quickly wraps her arms around Father Steed and snaps him in half as her face bites into his guts, spraying gore inside the casket just before the lid closes again on them both.
-
Everyone jumps to their feet and stands frozen. Russell is the first to react, as he runs over and grabs a shovel, positioning himself just outside the casket lid. Trevor shakes himself off and runs over to the head of the casket. Some people are running away already, some are on their phones with emergency services, some are standing near the casket, helplessly waiting to become useful in the situation. You just want to flee.
-
You hear Russell say, “We go on 3,” and Trevor respond, “I got it.” The lid flies back open and the bloody doll-like body of Father Steed is violently thrown out and knocks Russell over. You watch in slow motion as Eve’s arms reach up and grab Trevor and tear out his throat with her smiling mouth. In horror, you watch your boyfriend get killed by the cousin he claimed was his angel, his blood staining her teeth.
-
Someone shouts “Everyone, RUN!” Some folks leap into action and start scattering in panic. You look over to watch people flee, and see Alice standing in shock, trapped between escaping and between running to Russell’s aid. She glances at you in fear, the rain pouring down between you. You share the look when you hear the same voice shouting “Roger, you have to run!” It snaps you both out of your trance and you look back towards the coffin.
-
Eve pulls herself out of the coffin like that creepy little girl crawling out of the TV in that movie “The Ring,” smearing blood as she lands on the ground and stands up shakily. She starts to walk towards the cars, when a large, muscular man with a shaved head and dark sunglasses steps in front of her and hits her with a heavy punch.
-
Eve falls back a step, and he swings another punch at her face, yelling “Die, Bitch!” It grazes off her chin and she immediately sinks her teeth into his forearm, biting off a chunk of his arm. He screams in pain and Eve places a hand on his face and thrusts him backwards away from her. His head hits a tombstone with a loud crack, and he falls to the ground limp. Eve slowly swallows the flesh she bit off of his arm and says, “Roger, please help me.”
-
“Russell,” you hear Alice yell desperately, “Get out of there baby!”
-
Russell has managed to stand up and is staring at the back of Eve’s figure. He looks angry, and he reaches down to grab the shovel again. He doesn’t heed Alice’s warning until it is too late. Father Steed grabs a hold of Russell and pulls him down. You can hear the dead priest rasp, “Peace of the Lord,” just before his bites into the back of Russell’s thigh. Russell screams at the extreme pain of his thigh being eaten, blood and flesh and muscle and bit of clothing disappearing into Father Steed's devouring mouth.
-
Another motion catches your eye as you see Trevor stand back up, his throat torn out and blood down his shirt. He looks at you and starts walking towards you, mouthing silent words. “And that Fucker has the keys to the car,” you think to yourself as terror takes hold.
